What is wrong with the fit between my seat and tailpiece? There's a large gap that gets wider towards to front of the bike. Other MMs I have seen don't suffer from this problem. I've had it all apart several times now and everything looks like it is fitted and aligned properly :nenau

Any ideas?

Are you very heavy:augie
Youve squashed the front part which would lift the rear after the place where it toutches the frame. Ive just tested it, im heavy.:aidan

It's been like that from new. Now compare the gap to yours.

hmm,
ive looked at it several times.
The seat is exactly the same but the side pannel is sagging for some reason.

Does anyone have any ideas? Do I have a different seat to anyone else?

yeh looks like it.
can you take another pic showing closer the plastic mounting position at the side?

Took the toolkit off and it made no difference.

Take a look at the pics below showing how the white panel is fixed. I can't for the life of me see how it could be fitted to close the gap.

The final picture taken from the side has the top frame tubes inline, so you can see the exact position on the panel.

Hi Magnum, in your very last picture the panel appears to be fitting as it should, ie the "point" of the panel is above the top blue frame rail, but in the photo, from the post before last I believe it was, the panel shows as being lower. Can you clarify ?

Just re-fitted the seat and the rubber pads on its base are contacting the frame. So it must be the tail-piece, I think :nenau

Would another MM owner be kind enough to post similar pics with the seat off please?

I can't put better picture now and i also have that extra tank in there, but you can see the fasteners from there:

I think everything in back end of your seat is ok. Are you sure, that front of seat is correct? There is that big flat headed screw, which you seat should be hooked. Actually you could screw it out a little to help it slide there better. Does seat stay on, when you lift from the front of seat? There is also that hook seen in my image just in the right end of image, which should slide inside seat. If you look seat under, there is that hole for it. Take tools off and try to slide it correctly. I think the problem must be there. Those little rubber pads under seat should be against frame tubes.

Thank you Eka :thumb2

Yes the seat stays on when you lift the front of the seat.

It looks like everything at the back end is fine. So maybe it's the way the seat is mounting, but as far as I can see it'll only go on one way. It is tight on the front round lug, but it will go on with a little force.

The small rubber pads on the bottom of the seat are about a mm or so off the frame, but my gap looks like 6 or 7 mm :nenau
