I'm genuinely happy for you mate and it must be thrilling for you to have finally left this terrible brand. It must be wonderful for you that you can now come back on here and tell us how shite and unreliable our bikes really are:thumb

Thanks for your valuable and incisive input, much appreciated:thumb

Melting sight glass.

It's plastic. And it's not the first time an oil sight glass has melted after a bike has been left with the engine running.

Hence the warnings in the owners handbook about it.

Try doing a search.

Why use plastic instead of glass?. Surely it can't be a cost issue. Just wondering
how the collective here deal with traffic jams in warmer climates?. :nenau

Glass

Tell your mate to RTFM it says not to leave it running but to start it, get on and ride it.

touchy

You think some of 'em on here can read  Steppers - later stuff is mineral glass (no red dot in the middle of the glass) on later stuff circa 2011 onwards

Why is the sight glass cheaper to MBW than a simple wire or flat strip dipstick as used in car engines.

Only option I can see in hot weather traffic is to fit a heat shield over the sight glass. Also avoid cheap petrol. The retarded the spark ignition throws more heat down the exhaust = more heat radiated off the pipes.
