Melted turn signal

Hi there.I ride a 2003 1150GS twin spark.Last year I fitted an Akrapovic end piece.I t looked great,sounded even better,but...it melted my left rear turn signal.You see I have the touratech panniers(41l-35l) and the racks had extension pieces for the rear turn signals so they won't get in the way ofthe paniers.So my rear left blinker got in the way of the very hot exhaust flow.
What I need to know is,what can I do to avoid this kind of trouble.Any suggestions? Is the left pannier(inner) in danger? I got rid of the Akrapovic but I want to put it back along with a Y piece and chip.

Exhaust pipe extension piece....Vern'll recommend a good one for ya...

take the nasty bits of steel bar off that relocate the indicators & fit mini indicators in the normal place. or better still, shorten the stalks on the OEM units.

well, it works with a remus.
