Blimey its their fault and they want to charge you for the fix, some fix, looks more like a complete Ajax to me.
Suppose the deflector won't have any affect on exhaust gas flow will it....no...well..no...
Saves the makers calling all their products back (not fit for purpose etc) and having to do the job properly...in the first place.

cheap solution
Last year I melted a pannier in Spain on a standard pipe + y piece. Sorted it with a new inner box + reflective heat resistant sticky stuff from Demon Tweeks - about 20 sovs. Oh yeah and I made sure there were no air leaks in the system!
