Sorry to be a pain, but this is a serious question!!!!

Jon: There have been enough incidents of this happening to see both BMW & Remus bring out parts to mitigate the risk of this happening.

However there are a number here who have not suffered the problem. I paid my £9 to BMW for the silver fronted gauze pad to stick on my pannier as I see it as an insurance policy.

As to whether it will hapen to you on this trip, I have no idea, but why risk it?

I seem to remember someone with a Remus getting a FOC bracket to solve this problem as the original Remus one for the GS caused the problem ?
I have a Remus Genesis race and have had the bracket in the vice twice so far and also have a roll of heat reflective material that I make a pad out off to put between the can and case.
