I know there is one 'cos i've seen piccies...a box that goes on the tail rack that raises and thus sits inbetween a top box and the rack so that the panniers can raise their lids.......usefull for first aid kits etc etc and has a side opening.

Anyone know who makes them, whether they fit a GS ADV and what's firringa top box (Givi E54 or similar ) on top of it ??

Pics/links or even if anyone has one they dont want??

Cheers.

Ah yes..that's the chappy..thanks Steve.

Don't seem to list one for ADV......I wonder if we know anyone with metal bending and box making skills ;)

As an alternative to this, anyone tried a big top box with panniers?

I don't want to be taking the box off to get to my kit in the panniers and I Imagine the lids will foul.......

Ernie of Overland Solutions will fabricate a box for this purpose. He put a small one on the Dakar man's 650 and a bigger one on Pedro's Kalahari all hand made and it'll be the strongest thing on your bike without a doubt.

Vern could no doubt do something but there are some people already waiting half a life for some panniers :D

True, very true indeedy mr judge, I think someone hs launched a new web site called www.everyonefcukvernabout.com, it's a really popular site as well, every stockist I'm using seems to have logged on before dealing with me.
I've had to lay out an awful lot of money on a couple of press tools to make the lids in one piece, this had to be made as a one off. It should have been with me 2nd week in January, it arrived last friday:mad:
All the ally sheet was ordered two weeks ago, that arrived on Monday, great I thought, lets dig in to it. One look at the sheet, and two problems jumped out at me. 1. the sheet is not plastic coated. 2. it's the wrong grade anyway. new sheet expected this friday.
As a result of this, the anodisers are getting a bit pissed off we me, after I've cancelled two deadlines in their production schedule..
Not to mention the £800 worth off scrap stainless steel I was presented with last year, that I ended doing again by hand!!
Everyone who has ordered a set of panniers, knew there was no delivery date, and only a couple of people have asked how I'm getting on with them, and no-one has given me any grief about them. Any down time I have, is spent in the garage until 9-10 pm most nights, trying to make other bits that people have asked for. So far, there is a top box, rocker cover protectors, mud flaps, stainless steel kits, modified handle bars, sump guards, lowering kits for 1100's, warning lamp pods for the fairing, a modified telelever strutt not to mention a complete set of blue prints for a complete frame and suspension kit for the 1100, plus a million one other things people have asked me to do for them, that never appear on the web site!
Oh yes, I saw the box that was made for chris. Need I say more.
Just remember. quality remains long after the price is forgotten.

Jeez Vern..sounds like you want to be getting some little metal bending elves in your magic grotto to help you out!!

:(

I can also vouch that Vern spends every second of his time in the shed making and fabricating all sorts of stuff that people have asked for, all this takes a lot of time, effort and money. I hope that everyone who has had any dealings with Vern appreciates this.

There seems to be one person who is concerned about the delivery time and has stated so on a few replys, and as far as I know has nothing on order to complain about so please MYOFB.

Lucy xx:D
