Don't see your answer , sport rubber , you would be scrapping everything and not slipping , so the "no matter what tyre" is a bit vague ….
Step out tyres : Annke , RT01 , Tourance Next .
Non step out: CTA3 , PR5 , CTA2 .
R1 Happy has the next gen with the M9RR , perfect grip in the right conditions , looking forward to his reviews as they are bringing out a Trail version for those who have not done the 17 conversion.

When he is quoting ‘miracles’ that held the front - then I reckon he is riding the roads as if they are a track..........

Fine if you are Hutchy on the IOM after the road has been inspected, but otherwise - i am suggesting that he is playing the odds.

Other people may see it differently.

I like the idea of the slightly more wet focused front on RT01 as (present glorious weather excluded) I need a tyre that performs when it’s cold and damp.

.....I just can’t seem to wear my current A3s down enough to justify the change to myself - yet.

TA3 cant go wrong with them , in any conditions . Hot mountain roads , perfect , they can deal with the extreme of heat and can be pushed as far as your bravery takes you , Uk roads , mainly Wales area , B roads any conditions , good surface , broken surface these tyres are brilliant and never move no matter what and seem to find grip when your head says no .

As most mainstream tyres are more than capable for 95% of situations and 95% of road riders I’d suggest the right tyre is the one your most comfortable with. Given that tyre confidence is mostly based on perception more than reality.

My point was that the road tech has a front tyre that is cut with lots of sipes , these when hot and pushing combined with the weight of the Gs and the way you brake , creates a wobble like a polishing mop , not nice . The CTA 3 is less (a lot less ) cut than the tech , so it holds its shape better when pushing . The 1500 mile tyre was the PR5 trail , so not sure on your thinking on that one . The tyre compounds are so good now that the Cta3 is more or less a road tyre , but with the ability to go up a gravel track .
The road tech was a tyre that I really wanted to like but just found it unstable and awkward .

Yes but my logic is correct the CTA3s have big blocks

Its like the reason F1 cars don't run full wets or even inters in the dry because th blocks heat up too quickly
The RT01 may have sipes but it does not have big blocks of tread like a trail tyre designed in part to throw mud away hence my changing from PST2

I too have tried lots and lots of different tyres from Super corsa on the hyper that don't really work on English roads as they don't get hot enough, Pirelli diablos that just don't last, Angel GT that IMO were the worst of the lot road tyre wise.

Anakee 2 and 3 which were ok but noisy Michelin PR3 and 4 which were good but puncture prone

The Road tec are my favourite So I care not a single fat rats arse for your expert opinion

As a last note on this I personally quite like soft carcass tyres and from the 10 miles I have just done I can say that the RT01 SE are not as soft a carcass as the originals and feel much sportier on steer speed etc

Not entirely sure I like them as much but time will tell as they are way different to the ST2 that I have replaced.

That's fine , but the CTA3 is not a block tyre ……… Super Corsa , Diablos , Angle GT , be fair these are not a fitment for the GS , so my comments are valid , tried and current , so you have tried lots of tyres but on irrelevant bikes as to the point of the RT01 on the the GS Oh well you carry on...Oh and you reckon the Nasty 2 and 3 were okay , I rest my case .
Im no expert I just experiment with tyres and situations and don't worry about cost , mileage , its about how it rides and for some how I ride may be relevant , not to you .

Well i have my CTA3 fitted on Friday so will see how i go.But i am on a gsa so dont think i will be taking them to there limit. My first new set so i do like to read what people are using on theres .

I would say the majority of my riding is in the 7 to 14 degrees C range. So for me I want something that works from the get go in the damp and cold.
I like metzelers but am willing to try the TA3s. At this rate though with how little miles I do currently I’m in no hurry to change.

Got CTA3 just at the start of lockdown. Done a few solo miles now, and another hundred two-up last night (to the chippy at Shap which is excellent BTW). https://shapchippy.co.uk/

For me they are brilliant road tyres. After the wooden feeling of the Annakee 3 - which never let me down but just did not inspire confidence.

CTA3 seems quieter at the front (not noticed any noise at all but I do wear ear plugs, and did hear the occasional "whine" from the Annakee's), cornering confidence is sports-bike-like. It turns-in so much better. Gives the confidence I could brake mid-corner if needed, or confidently change line to avoid that manhole cover with ease - which would have scared me (possibly without foundation) on the Annakee's. They have made the GS into the (road) bike I really wanted it to be. Need to check lean angles on the GPS, but from what I can see, it's so much better.

For me it was a toss-up between the CTA3 and the Michelin Road 5 Trail, but went for the CTA3 because of the good reviews.

The CTA3 is ideal for that as I ride all year , all conditions. Wet , warm , cold , hot , fantastic grip and sure footed . Winter time on cold roads the tyre seems to get hot and remain hot even when its cold and again great grip , the Conti just performs with no problems or down sides , I can honesty say that the only time its slipped has been on gravel , that's it. They are up to temp in less than a mile I would say
It is a tyre that keeps giving and rewards .

If you have not tried the PR5 , they are a good tyre , not as long lasting as the CTA3 but turn even faster as the profiles are steep , the rear is skinny and steep , takes a bit of getting used to as it falls into the bends , great on fast twisty mountain sections , but they do wear fast .
Somewhere I have a comparison of the profiles of the RT01 against the PR5 and its incredible the difference in sport profile of the PR5 compared to the RT01 . That was the set I took to Spain when I binned the RT01 as I did not like the front.
The CTA3 are a great set of road tyres and pleased you have found them so.

If it inspires confidence in you then it’s the right tyre. The stickiest, fastest tyre on the planet means zilch if you don’t gel with it.

The next guy might ride rings round us all on a tyre that scared the pants off you. That’s the nature of tyres. There is no right or wrong answer within sensible parameters of fitment.

I have them on my GSA Doc and I love them. Probably the best tyres I've had on a GS or GSA

What do you mean , my point is that if you can post your feelings of tyres on here some will gain from it , its not hard...……………...post 55 is a generalised comment , stating the obvious , not experience . that make assist someone to make a decision based , again , on experimentation over many miles. Also an evolution of experience and pushing tyres , some fail early , some fail when you lease expect it , so when you find a tyre that , when put thro most situations that rewards you post to share…………..
