EXP's were fitted to a loan GS12 I was riding for a few days. I thought they felt very good. They felt on a par with my Battlewings. Turn in better than old Tourance.

I wouldn't want them if there is a technical issue though.

You will now get a dozen replies recomending a dozen different tyres which are definately the best for you. None of them are crap these days.

PS do a search on 'Tyres'

Hi Mick,

I ride a 1200GSA, my previous 3 sets of tyres have been Tourance. This last set I used the Tourance EXP, and I have to say I'm a little disappointed. I was getting 10000 - 12000 miles on the tourance's on the EXP's the rear tyre has squared off only after 3000 :spitfire and is now worn so much that it is no longer legal. The front has also worn badly, I may get another 2000 miles before that needs a change :spitfire.

I called Metzller to confirm if there was a technical problemwith the EXP, they where not aware of any problems. I am waiting for a guy to give me a call back with regard to my issue, will keep you posted

Cheers

Maybe sticky rubber is why the EXP's felt good on the loaner. I'd be pissed with a squared off rear after 3K. I get 9K from a rear Battlewing. The current set have done 3K and look new.

I was in Guildford Tyre yesterday getting a new rear and the guys there said the same - lots of customers reporting the new EXP just doesn't last. So I got the old Tourance, of which they had loads.

Perhaps I'm being cynical in thinking that they're just trying to shift loads of 'last years model' but I doubt it.

And £107 all in to a loose wheel was what I expected it to be.

Shame about the exp's, having the old tourances fitted tomorrow, £163 inc VAT and fitting to bike, sounds OK, any thoughts?

ISTR getting a pair for about that fitted on the bike from Micheldever a couple of years ago.

That's a good price for two tyres. Best internet price I found was £140 delivered - then there's the fitting.

Thanks guys, Thought for a mo i was being repped off, checked with another supplier @ £208, now that is a rip off!

I had no trouble getting EXPs three weeks ago For my 1200GSA

Prior to a long trip last October I changed the orriginal anakees to EXPs .Rear sqared off and only lasted 6500 miles. But that had done a trip to the south of france fully loaded ( some would say overloaded) including over 1000 miles of high speed motorway. I replaced it with the half worm anakee untill three weeks ago when it and the front EXP were down to1.5mm but the front had done over 10,000miles

Conclusion rear annake totaled about 8,000miles But i did not like them anyway.
Front anakee is only Half used but looks OK at about 3500 miles
Front EXP was good for over 10,000miles
Rear EXP I expect to get close to 10,000 in normal conditions (ie No motorways) The last one was changed at 6500 mostly becouse it was square it did still have 2.5mm of tread in the centre

I was always happy with the old tourance but I feel that the new ones are better in the wet & indications are that mileage will be almost as good

Just for information, I have just had 2 EXPs supplied, fitted and balanced for £175 inc. vat, by Roy Gardner at RGM in Croston and that seemed a fair price to me. I've only done 30 miles on 'em so far, so I won't be making any comments on how good they are just yet!

It's a bit of a worry hearing that there might be technical issues with 'em.

Can anyone provide more info on this...?

A BMW dealer give me a quotation of £300 for Metzelor EXP supplied and fit it
Is it right or rip of?

How much is a fair price for exp supplied and fit it?

Pair of old style ones at F & B, £175 fitted. Out of 3 old style tourances fitted to my bikes in the last month, the only ballance weight needed has been 10g on the front one today

£158 for the EXP's btw.
