If it's against the law (your opinion) what is your beef with Metzeler which was the initial reason for your anger (sorry post)

my beef as you call it is that i was not made aware at the point of purchase or on any advertisments for the 01 tyre do they advise me that i cannot repair the tyre should i have a puncture .If i was aware of this i would have either bought it anyway and taken my chance or opted for another manufacturer . I just want people to be aware that if they fix said tyre they are riding around with loved one ect on a defective tyre and may not be insured if the worst happens

If the worst happens they might not be around to worry about it. And if they’re not worried, neither should you. Only thing to fear is fear itself.

I wonder which tyre manufacturers would be happy to state that it's safe to repair a puncture in their tyres?

The problem may arise when there is an accident and the insurance assessor spots a repaired puncture in a tyre whose manufacturer does not condone. The insurance company may use it to avoid paying out. ............ not that they are looking for an excuse. ??????
