Michelin Pilot 4 long life on LC 2014

Has anyone used Tyre Leader http://www.tyreleader.co.uk quoting £204 a pair for GSA sizes but seems they are shipped from Europe. Nothing bad I can find on-line, but better safe than sorry?
Local fitter will do the pair on the bike for £40.

I'll answer my own question, amazing what you can find when you use 'search'!

One recommendation and one sort of warning.

I used oponeo.co.uk week or so ago. It's been 2nd time and no issues at all. Got rear ContiTrailAttack2 for 108 inc delivery and VAT. Local fitter did it for 10 quid! Happy days.

Pilot 4 trails fitted to my GS LC today at Sillets in Aberdeen. Ordered them Tuesday.

£262 fitted.

Just had a set of PR4s fitted to the GS toilet for £245 and am getting quite a noticeable amount of noise from the front. Anyone else had this? I have checked that nothing's rubbing which is what it sounds like, most noticeable at 20 to 30 mph. Not yet scrubbed in properly and still got the moulding stalks on the front so hoping that's what's causing the noise and it will go soon. Usually I have the tyres fitted to loose wheels but this time I had the tyre fitters remove and replace the wheels but they appear to have done it OK.

20-30mph? Nope, haven't noticed anything. Do you spend much time at that speed? If you do, get a C90 and save the planet.

No such problem with mine.

:D strangely enough I do that speed every time I ride, once when I start off and once when I stop;)

That was a good price fitted, who did you use?

Yes, I should have said it was Wheel House Tyres, near Coleshill. Apparently Michelin are refunding some of the fitting cost, so it's only £5 more than fitting to loose wheels. When it came to pay they did say I should have been quoted £5 more but they honoured the phone quote. They seem a pretty professional lot, I've used them loads of times but usually I take the loose wheels in, never had a problem with them.

Got a pair fitted to loose wheels this afternoon for £199 from micheldever tyres . Still nice and shiny in my garage and looking forward to trying them tomorrow

Fitted to bike for £249 today, there is a Michelin deal on only an extra £5 over fitting to loose wheels. Ride seems better than anakees on first impressions.

I read the comments so far with interest, as I replaced the original Tourance Nexts with a set of PR4 Trails not one week ago.
All I actually wanted was a replacement rear Tourance Next; my front TN is still good for another 8 000 to 10 000 Km. But none of the local stockists have them. I basically had a choice: Conti Trail Attacks for R4 100, or PR4 Trails for R3 200.

First impressions: quite a bit grippier than the Tourances. I don't know if they're also more supple, but they seem to give a much comfier ride as well.

I'm told that while the rear PR4 Trail is dual-compound (soft edges, medium middle), the PR4 GT is triple-compound (soft outer edges, medium inner edges, hard middle) and is designed for heavyweight tourers.
These would be a good experiment to get higher mileage, except that they don't seem to be available in 170/60-17.

I think you made the right choice, I have just swapped my old Conti TA2s for PR4s. I did not like the Contis, the rear would suddenly let go when pushing on and step out quite a long way, never too serious but enough to destroy any confidence in the tyres. I also had a very strange wear pattern on the rear at the edges, with a curvy edge to the wear line/chicken strip and I could never get to wear the very edges and totally eliminate the chicken strip, but that's probably down to the chicken rider:rolleyes:

I managed to fit a PR4 GT to mine,no problem with availability.
