When I start a new doc in Word 2010 I get a blank sheet (filename document1)_

For some reason, the line spacing has 'changed' so that a 'return' results in it leaving one line blank, so text only appears on every other line! It's bloody annoying and I can't work out how to change it. Currently I just open any old document, erase the contents, and start my new document on that page.

Please Help.

Bloody Microsoft!!!

You need to open the template file normal.dot change it there and save it.
Be careful there though as that is the base of all documents

Have you tried selecting format from the top menu bar, then paragraph, then select 'single' for the line spacing?

I think you can then save as default so it will be the same each time.
I know I changed the font and size defaults for the Mrs the other day, I imagine it would be the same for spacing. :thumb2

I had the same problem.

On the tool bar - click on change styles. Then choose style set - word 2003.

What I cannot do is make it default to that style - so I have to do that each time I start a new document.

Thanks for all those suggestions. I'll try them tmoro and report how i get on. Will

Hello

The format of two line per carraige return is HTML based, press shift and enter to get one line.

To change it choose a different paragraph style.

Cheers

John

For ease try opening a doc you already have as a letter, delete the contents and write new doc, save as whatever you like, should be job done.

Repeat as necessary, you should be able to save the blanked document as a template, as it is already formatted to be single line, or whatever the orig doc was, it should be fine.

This is prob the easiest way :thumb2
