Midday Express - Istanbul on the hoof

So onto my usual accommodation in the Sauerland.

It’s a great place, surrounded by amazing roads.

I think it’s not always packed because the bathrooms are not en-suite.

Anyway a couple of Harleys are there for a nearby meet.

They’ve had a refurb since I was here 2 years ago. I’m very happy to see the latest UHD DAB in my room.

Anyway, great weather, more amazing roads, another great day.

Some local food to get me replenished ready for, sadly the final push.

As nice as the place is, rude not to eat outdoors in the mountain air.

We turn west tomorrow and run for home…… but there’s a few nice bits to come.

I’ve missed today as I have a new watch and it’s taken me 4 hours just to work out how to put it on

I’m headed to Newcastle to pick up my KTM tomorrow so will update on train.

Day 26

Winterberg to Calais

417 Miles

Just got to hotel 12 hr day so I’m pooped.

Anyway,,,,

Breakfast at my fave bb place, then lovely jaunt through saurland for 100 miles, the road surface is perfect and as usual its traffic free so its 50 mph sweepers for ages, bliss....

........ then a lot of Dual Carriageway.

Stopped at Hurtgeon Forest, this was the scene of some ferocious fighting during WW2. I had to do a paper on it and have never been, so that was a nice stopover.

Head off to Arras, the weather stays amazing and I manage to get some nice shots on the iphone.

Got to love technology, everything wrapped up in one tiny thing, a godsend for motorcycle touring.

Manage to fit in a small museum too.

Didn’t want to just honk it back, I’d have felt I’d let the trip down.

Into hotel, very quick walk round town then bed.

Anyway the pics and vids have it.

Sadly this tiny museum was shut, so just a quick walk round outside and a brew.

I shall return though for sure.

Swinging NW now and a bit of necessary dual carriageway time.

I want to get to Arras and then replan.

On arrival it’s as well kept as ever.

I know nothing about photography, but with light and a subject like this I can’t go too far wrong.
