Hi all. Does anyone have any first hand experience of the current migrant situation in Morocco, ie. last few months/weeks? Have read about Ceuta and the 'problems' they have had there for a while and wondered whether the present situation could prohibit a trip next month for any reason. Tangier and border areas especially.

Thanks

No reason to prohibit a trip.

Personally though I prefer coming in through Tanger Med. It's cheaper, quicker, passport control is done on the boat, and if you've done the DTER16 online you are all set and don't need to involve touts.

Check out comparative prices on http://www.aferry.to I normally find Acciona/Trasmediterranea the cheapest.

Unless you've got panniers big enough to take a pair of desperate illegals across the border, don't worry about it :)

Was in Tanger ville a couple of weeks ago, nothing to worry about at all apart from the usual crowd of junkies hanging around the port area.

Though, as Tim says, the new port is definitely the way forward in terms of speed/ease :thumb2

Thanks all - wasn't too concerned but thought I'd ask. Was planning to go via Tangier Med and will certainly be downloading the forms before I go. Had a quick look at aferry.com and yes, they seem to be the cheapest (thanks Tim).
