Has anyone any info on what AIS does? and how it works? and maybe how to get rid of it?

My new Beta Alp has this system, it's some kind of Euro 3 emission clean up nonesense.
There's a pipe coming off my exhaust to a valve attached to the carb which then routes back to the airbox (plus other bits!?). I also have a cam on the throttle mechanism which operates a micro switch at abot 80% full throttle (but following the wires they are not connected to anything?????)

Am I right in assuming that anything designed to reduce emissions is probably going to have a detrimental affect on "normal" running? and the system should be junked?

Cheers.......

It sounds like the clean air emissions crap that's fited to a lot of new bikes these days.

Clean air is injected in to the exhaust gas just downstream of the cylinder head. This dilutes the gas when measured at the tailpipe. There might be a small box containing a reed valve in the system somewhere? The vacuum effect from the carb operates the system.

Have a look at a standard DRZ400, they have one that's easy to follow. I removed all the plumbing on my old DRZ and blanked off the spigot on the carb with a rubber cap. I had the head off the DRZ at the time, so I tapped the hole in the head where the air was injected in to the exhaust port out to 6mm & loctited a bolt in place. All worked well, no jetting changes required & no popping & banging if you've capped everything off.

Cheers for that.
Further digging has revealed that it shouldn't effect running at all, although it can cause excess heat round the exhaust valve with premature wear to guides (all that extra burning in the exhaust).
It's not a very developed system on the Beta - a welded pipe off the exhaust! All the excess pipework will make valve clearance checking a bit tight, so I think it'll get junked soon.

Just need to find out what the (non attached) microswitch is for :nenau
