What sort of milage can you expect to get from a 1150GSA. I mean total milage, reliabilty etc not MPG.
Anyone got over 100K?

FB

If it's well maintained 100k miles shouldn't be a problem. I was chatting with a guy the other day who had 210,000km on his 1994 R1100GS. I have 60,000km on my 1999 R1100GS and (touch wood) aside from a few consumables no real bother to date.....but everyone knows the 1100 is superior to the 1150 , especially the silver and yellow ones :D

Bit early to say I reckon........they haven't been out long enough for most people to knock up any serious mileage (100k or more) to expose any GSA-specific long-term faults.

Going on other models though, with a bit of TLC and attention to the normal weakspots, the GSA should be more than capable of doing the same sort of extreme mileage that most other 'proper' bee-ems do.

Are you a particularly high mileage guy???

Just wondering what the reason for the question was.

(I'm on target for 30k this year on my adv:))

I will do 30K a year so will rack them up pretty quick. Had RT's before since 95 and they held up good.

63k miles plus so far and increasing at about 1200 per week on my 2002 Adv.

Apart from breaking an alternator belt (because my dealer failed to replace it at the correct service schedule), no problems so far...

Mike:)

63k miles so far. Only breakdown caused by the alternator belt (because my dealer failed to replace it at the correct service shedule)...

But note, my BMW dealer wont warranty a s/h bike with more than 60k on apparently, hence my dealers reluctance to take mine in as a part ex, cause he cant sell it ....

Dont know what that says about their faith in the product after 60k....

Seems its not just the bike world who are reluctant to take in high milers. Most main franchised car dealers are reluctant to take in anything with 60K plus and put it on their forecourt. They will usually out it to a non franchised dealer as quick as possible.

Winter Riding

Hi fatbioy.

As a once 100 mile a day commuter, the GS for the 13000miles I used if for (before written off) was grewat, however, I have noticed that the winter months are quite cruel to the bike.

Fork stations, lowers and engine frontage all seem to bubble in salt if you are not carefull with your cleaning. Of course there is the B*W warranty that needs abusing.

However, cracking bike, they get quicker as the engine clears up, I have a 17000 miler ADV and it gets quicker by the week.

Enjoy the bike, they are great, it was the first commuting bike that I liked so much I used it on my days off.

hey fatboy.

ran up 42k in 2 yrs on my bike. dunno whether i got the friday bike or the people who serviced my bike were just dorks but it rotted and broke down as well as any other bike and seemed to cost anything between £300-£450 when it was serviced every 6k (£55 p/h +vat not uncommon).

if you can locate a decent independant beemer mechanic from this site people rate, it will work out far cheaper for you in the long run especially if you're going to run it for miles and miles.

just dont believe the bullet proof uber machine myth because reality is its a bike built for a profit like any other bike, only bee emm make more on theirs cos they knock them out higher!!
