Mind your speed

I would be more than willing to go to court and argue the toss if I was done for 1 mph over the 30 mph limit, bearing in mind that it is feasible and allowable to sell a vehicle on the road in the UK that has a speedometer inaccuracy of 10 percent.

I know it is more likely that it will be running 10 percent fast rather than slow but if everyone who was summonsed or ticketed elected to go to court it would totally clog the courts system.

Sorry but that's not correct. The speedometer may over-read by up to 10% but it may not under-read.

They can say what they like but 2 or 3 mph over the limit isn't going to change the accident statistics. It's money making pure and simple.
