Took it for a ride to dry it off after cleaning it.
Had a good ride, bike going really well ( in reality, me gaining more confidence after being laid up with viral meningitis ,) 2 miles from home, when I pulled up to a set of lights, engine started making horrendous tapping noise - sounded like a big end gone! Oh bugger.
I let the clutch out a little - just to,give me enough momentum so I could get the bike safely to the side of the road and stop the engine and bang!
Bike lurches forward a foot, then the back wheel locks.
I lose my footing, and drop it on the RHS engine bars.
I quickly lift the bike back up, but the bugger won't roll at all, even in neutral with the clutch in!
Sounds like a fubar clutch....
Anyway, phone a mate, and grab a bystander, and we drag the bike to the side of the road. In doing so, the rear wheel freed off somewhat, and we can now roll it, but with some very nasty noises coming from the engine/gearbox?
No out wards signs of trauma.
An hour later, bike is recovered.
It's now sitting forlorn in the garage waiting for BMW assist to collect it in the morning.
It was booked in for a service anyway next week!
I had noted that the clutch started to feel like it was dragging a little since I started riding it again 10 days ago, with a really good crunch into first gear, and some difficulty finding neutral, which I didn't experience at all before I laid it up in November. I was going to ask the service guys to look at this issue, but looks like we have a whole new problem now.....
Ah well - we will see what they find....
