Mirror Extenders

I bought some SW Motech mirror extenders.

Can anyone please advise if the screw thread on the original mirrors separates into two parts - if it does it's blooming' tight. I haven't so far been able unscrew.

I've removed the mirrors from the bars but when I screw them into the new threaded hole on the extenders they end up pointing the wrong way when fully tightened so I'm guessing there must be some adjustment built into the mirror arms to allow them to be tightened in the correct position. Failing that I'll have to pack the screw in thread with washers so that it stops where I want it which doesn't seem very satisfactory?

The mirrors are glued with locktight red label. So you have to warm the darn thing up to over 100 degree centigrade. Remember that the left mirror has reverse thread (if that is what it is called in English).

Never had to heat anything, theres 2 fixings, 1 is an M10 bolt which you will swap out I believe for longer ones which come with the extenders, there is a reverse threaded nut on the mirror stalk itself which you use to tighten the mirror in the correct position. Hope this helps
