Mirror upgrade

Hooray, I can now see what's behind me! I was fed up with the small round "mickey ears" because they always vibrated, and gave poor rear visibility, so I wanted to upgrade to something better.

My recently acquired second bike has the 800GS mirrors, so a trip to Bahstormer, and a quick 5 minute job, and bingo!

IMO, they look more modern, and finish the bike off. I'm sure someone will be along to disagree though!

I don't have problems with the mirrors on my GSA but those ones look good.
No doubt a run on supplying them now!

They were £35.48 exc vat each (includes 10% discount), which I didn't think was too bad. Maybe I should have put the Mickey's up for sale here first before telling everyone how good these ones are!

Not at all. This is my fourth 1200GS and all had wobbly mirrors. It makes a nice change to see what's behind me! I must remember to look at where I'm going occasionally though!

Bike looks great. Can you please confirm that this is a GS not a GSA. The reason I ask is that you have a GSA screen. How did you go about the swap as price tends to be a bit off putting? I am looking to change as the smaller screen on the GS does not quite do the job for me as I am 6'4. Many thanks

It's an R1200 GS Triple Black with a black GSA screen & winglets, accessory foglamps and crashbars

Yep, it's a standard 1200GS. I just bit the bullet and got BMW to change the screen and add the winglets/ AUX lights on the first service.

Thanks - I see we are in the same boat. I have had the winglets added but they restrict the adjustment of the standard screen. Good Luck

They knocked about 20% off, but I'm still getting over the cost of it

A word of caution to those of you that like the look of that dark screen and might be tempted to shell out for one!.

You may find it's not your "cup of tea" when sat astride and riding.

I purchased one a few years back from Nippy Norms... Fitted it and thought it looked dead cool!..

However, when riding the bike... all I was aware of was a "large dark brick" where my standard screen used to be and found it very distracting!.

Needless to say I had to remove it and re-fitted the old screen.

It then sat on the shelf of the garage for a few years!...

I'd toured Spain a couple of times and noticed that I "baked" behind my standard screen.. So the next time I was due to go.. Decided to "chop" the large dark brick!..

This I did using a standard jig-saw after using tape to mark the pattern I wanted!.

I now use the "chopped" screen every time I ride Spain and during the UK Summers..

The wind blast hits just above the shoulders and lets ample air through the vents on my helmet.. with no buffeting etc!..

The down side is more bugs on your visor.. But overall a cooler ride imo!.
