I'll do some homework on the net. My dilemma is that I do need proper road tyres for the odd teaching day (couple of days a month) but then I between that I've got the odd trail day booked in or something like the cambrian or taffy Dakar. I've just got to swallow up buggering about changing tyres. The EO9's are getting good reviews online ...

I've been using E09s a bit on the 640, not the best in mud but then nothing is that'll also perform on the road.

Yes, for once Mellors you're talking sense - I should learn to do my own tyres. The 1190 has this central rubber air seal thing that keeps the rim airtight, but I'm sure it's idiot proof.
(Actually, I quite like fettling so the idea of doing my own tyres is quite appealing... ). I mean how hard can it be?? A club hammer and some fairy liquid ... and Bobs yer uncle ...

Timothy, (see I want to pick your brains now so I'm not being insulting .. ) do you balance yer own wheels? And have you got any fancy kit or just a couple of tyre irons?
(And is there a particular brand of tyre iron you'd specifically recommend??)

)I presume you can also use tubed tyres on those rims which'll give you more options.
I changed tyres just for one day's ride last weekend, got back and put on a pair of new Deserts using only small tyre levers so I'm sure a man of your capability would have no trouble ........
I use Motion Pro levers because they're light and have a spanner on the end for wheel nuts, you'll probably want to buy some Buzzetti levers...... about 4ft long
Oh and lube, you probably already have some KY, washing up liquid's not recommended but I just soak a rag with soapy water and use that, you can buy tyre soap to help it slip in iykwim.
I did have the wheels balanced a couple of years ago but wouldn't bother on your bike (because you'll be swopping back to road tyres) unless you're using a rim lock on the front which will put it out of balance even then only if it's really bad.
You will need to think about rim locks with aggressive tyres and that much power, particularly at lower pressures ie. less than say 22 psi
I have a big bolt cabled tied to the spokes on the Husaberg opposite the rim lock which sorted it

Ummm ok, thank you Timothy. (For the record we don't have KY ..... Spit seems to be just fine ...).
I'm now a man possessed on eBay looking at bead breakers and small compressors!
The valve on the rear is offset to accommodate an airline, and as it is they are fancy TPM valves, so to be honest, I'll probably stick with tubeless tyres and not meddle with valves. (Which could then have a disastrous knock on effect with the rubber seal etc). Yes this limits my tyre options, and I'm guessing a tubeless tyre is a tighter fit than a tubes one, hence the compressors and bead breakers ....
I'll probably just stick with tkc's.

If you can get to a farm supply store, vet obstetric lube is cheap in bulk, water soluble and antibacterial lest you nick a finger. I reach for it because I already have some, and I much prefer using it for tyres than for its intended purpose...

On Ebay I could get this sort of set up for under £100. I know some of you will say that a pair of motion pro levers are a fifth of the price, but it seems a no brainer. (I could even do my own car tyres .....).

Ok Mellors .... be serious now! The tyre stand thingy is £50, and I could do my bike, my own car tyres on it .... Rosy's car tyres ... I'd probably pay for it in its first use simply by cutting out watling tyres and buying from the net. (yeah yeah ... balancing and all that .. )

Sounds like your practicing a convincing argument in preparation for the biggy ......... don't forget to mention the compressor while you're at it

I reckon it's worth changing your own tyres once just to understand what you pay a little bit to a guy with a nice machine. On that basis, I practice on the little bike using the one big and one small tyre lever I might be carrying if I puncture in the middle of nowhere.

My 1100 has a tubeless 07 on rear and front tubed . By a tube Bill, bloody good tyre is my first impression!
