My rear tyre is now badly in need of changing, I'm not impressed at all, 8500kms (5200miles) doesn't seem enough especially as for the first 1000kms it was running in and the next 1000 I was taking it easy... I've been running at 36/39psi Front & 42psi Rear.

I've decided to switch from Trailwings to the Tourances as they seem to get the best reports from most here;) The problem is my front tyre has a lot of life left, so I'm going to just change the rear, something I've never done before.

Are there any issues with running different makes front and rear?

Dear BawdyMonk,

The B*M club may frown upon you if they hear of such alteration to the specific standards of which ones B£W should be kept at all times! :)

Have run different tyres on my 100GS in the past and steered a bit weird but nothing major I could recall.

Cheers

it probably wouldn't be 'acceptable' but i'd do just the rear and see how it felt.

if it handled like a tea trolley on a greased pig then change it.

what you got to lose - you would have done it anyway

Done the rear change quite a few times now and average about 5000 from the rear, 10,000 from the front using Tourance

I`ve ran with a Tourance front and Trailwing rear...no problems, just picked my hole in the hedge and went for it.
