It seems like the continental tkc70 tyres in 90/90 x 21 are unavailable anywhere in the UK (and it has been this way for at least 6 weeks)

My question is; can I use a Metzler Sahara enduro 3 on the front with a TKC70 on the rear?

I have a TKC70 on the rear that’s only done about 700 miles, so don’t want to replace it yet..... but am unable to source a 90/90 21 inch front TKC70 anywhere .... and yes, I have tried just about everywhere, and even those that seem to have it online, don’t actually have them in stock........I have been let down twice now.

Or do I just bite the bullet, and order the Sahara 3 and hope for the best (and buy a Sahara 3 for the rear if the mix doesn’t work) ?

Any advice gratefully received (even the usual piss-taking that occasionally happens here)

No problems at all doing that.

I’m running mixed on gsa now and have done on 310 for ages.

I checked with my insurance and they are not interested as long as the tyres are individually legal.

Don’t do it. You’ll crash at the first corner. :D

You’ll be fine. :thumb2

Mitas make the Contis, so see which of their tires is closest, E08's are great on my GS.
No one who makes either tires or motorcycles recommends you mix tires, but probably depends on how you ride- if you wobble around like an old duffer you will probably be OK, but if you start to ask anything of your tires you might be in trouble!

I am not sure what bike you have but remember you were converting a ST.

Are you using the tubeless rims?

original G/S wheels use TKC70 3.00-21 and they appear to be in stock.

What would be worst option a different brand or imperial and not metric size?

Interested in opinions on this myself.

You are correct, it’s my ST conversion. I have the g/s wheel to go on the front, just no where in UK has a 21 inch tkc70 ..... can stay with the 19 inch wheel for a while longer til I can get a tyre for the 21 inch g/s wheel...... but am impatient and want to change the front end . (tubed rims)

Some places seem to have the 21 inch tkc70....... until you actually order it, then they tell you it’s not in stock !

Hi Bubb,

My G/S uses the original 3-00-21 tyres. The later GS with the tubeless rims uses the 90-90-21.

You may be correct about stock of tyres but my Google search showed some dealers claiming to have stock of the 3-00 tyre.

https://www.nationalbiketyres.co.uk/?route=product/product&product_id=46365 (£74)

https://www.wheelhousetyres.co.uk/3-00-21-51t-tkc70-m-s-continental-tt.html (1 left £86)

Good luck with your search.

Thanks for the info. I had been searching for 90/90 x21...not for 3.00 x21.

Have now located a 3.00 x21 (I hope) and will find out when they deliver...(or not, as the cad may be).
Thanks for the help mate.

Many thanks, I ordered a 3.00 x21, which arrived today. Now fitted to wheel, and wheel on the bike.
My ST becomes more g/s than st now..... it rides well with the 21 inch wheel and updated shock.... and looks good too
