I frequently want to record a registration number, web address, brilliant idea like this or some other observation. Gloved up and in the outside lane of the M6 there are not many options to hand

Can anyone think of an affordable, simple to use and weatherproof method of achieving the above?

Hook up your microphone to your Autocom (or some other intercom)...

Get a personal recorder,

Or your phone's voice memo function, figure out how to get one button record action going with it...

Press and talk...

Chinagraph pen on a string. Write on the tank or screen and wipe it off with a damp rag when your done. I also have a laminated sheet of A5 in my tank bag pocket so notes can be taken easily without removing gloves. Surprising how often it gets used.
