If I were to buy a brand new phone off Ebay that was a PAYG Vodaphone, the network is GSM Triband:confused: would it work with as a contract phone with Vodaphone using the old SIM card.

Also...can anyone recommend a particularly robust but good phone ie. decent camera etc.

Nokia do a "builders phone"...... can't remember the model number..... but quite a few peeps I know swear by them for robustness. Not sure about the camera.

Firstly yes, Vodaphone is Vodaphone, payg or contract they are the same. There may be slight differences in the Vodaphone contact details, ie customer services as they may be held in the phone as opposed to the sim card. What do you mean by robust?? if you tend to be a tad clumsey then look at possible covers, I have silicon and a Crystal cover to protect my Sony Ericsson W850i, however I have to admit I have found Nokia to be about the best.

Cheers Parky.

One phone I was looking at says " All phones are locked to the network mentioned in the title"

In this case that's Vodaphone PAYG, what I want to know is, will it also be unlocked as a Vodaphone contract phone?:)

ie. can I just put the existing SIM into it and it'll work?

edit. just read your reply Parky, thanks.

Tim - it should work fine with your current Vodaphone SIM card. Which phone is it as Vodaphone are doing some great deals at the moment and you may find the same phone as cheap or cheaper at your local Woolworths or similar. I have just bought a Sony Erricson K800i for £68 with a PAYG sim card and put my normal prepay sim card in. The reason I bought the phone is on the recomendation of Tobers who works for O2 in their testing dept and he really rated it high and it has one of the best mobile phone cameras out there.

Sony Ericsson 630i

Tim

I have a Sony ErikssSon 630i which is a great phone with a 2.0 megapix camera. It`s really solid and I`ve dropped it loads of times with no problems.

I used to have Nokia because they were indistructable but I had one recently and it was crap. A friend in the biz reckoned that the Sony Ericsson was the new Nokia nd so far, he`s been proved right:thumb

Thanks Andy, it's actually not for me but 'her' so I'll pass on all advise.

She dropped her Motorola KRZR K1 and cracked it:blast, the warranty which she forgot to cancel is a tenner a month:eek:which she's been paying for the past year:blast:blast

There's a £50 excess on the warranty and a whole load more hassle:rolleyes:so there's the lesson, cancel the rip off warranty when you have to start paying for it:mad:
