Ola Amigos....Mod 2 in a couple of weeks. Currently running around on an FB Mondial HPS125. Going to join the ranks of the big boys once I pass my test. No point in telling me not too :)

Currently looking at a nice 2014 LC at Optimum Bikes (blue R1200 w/ Akrapovic- yum), if it's still around when I pass, it may be mine. Also, if you're selling early LC or late TC, I'll be looking. Always nice to pick up an enthusiasts machine. Live in Crieff, so will be going to a good home!

There several nice TC's and earlier hexheads on here currently. Good bikes.

If I were you I’d get something like this as a first big bike…..

That is nice! Near an old place of work a guy had one of those with a white tank with red and blue stripes on it. I’ve haven’t seen those colours since in an 1150. Always though it was the coolest thing ever….

....because he's selling it! :ROFLMAO:

Anyway, welcome to the site and good luck with your Mod 2. Creiff has some fantastic riding around it. I recently spent a week in Auchterarder doing bits of the cloverleaf and other routes.

Thanks Arch! Yup - lucky where I live - lots of great roads around here. If you did the Dunfermline road towards Stirling (one that goes past Knockhill - A823) the view down towards Stirling with the Castle and Wallace Monument is stunning on a clear day!

I feel sorry for people taking their bike tests these days, its a pain and expensive .

When I did mine in 85, if you could ride around the block without falling off you passed.

Good luck.

Thanks Mike. I quite enjoy going out with the instructors. I originally got my licence in Oz years ago. Moved around a bit and lost the entitlement, so doing the lessons again has been a great refresher.

Great and correct attitude, good luck.

Currently looking at a nice 2014 LC
Some will shoot me down.
I was an early adopter of the LC. First 2 were rejected, from 2015/16 they were massively improved. The 1250 I recon is spot on. I would rather have an oil head pre LC if cash is an issue. However @Udders 1150 gave me a stiffy :spl1f:

That’s not my 1150! :blast That’s Howard’s that is for sale.
Mine is a lot better and NOT for sale! :D

Experienced riders - tell me about ABS. Is it necessary? It’s hard to trigger on my own 125 and the schools’ Ducati Scrambler. Do I need it on a GS?

Why wouldn't you want safety aids?

Agreed - that’s the base position. I see a few bikes on here where the ABS has been disabled (it seems) on the older GS’s. Wondering what practical difference it makes….

The servo versions were ok until they went wrong and instantly left you with almost zero brakes. :blast
That’s why a lot underwent a “ servoectomy “. Some did it before the unit went wrong.
My 1150 GS never had the servo but does have ABS. Best version too. :thumb2

My insurance renewal for my 1150 for next year is £59:29 fully comp. Another good reason to keep it / get one. :thumb2
