I have piggy backed my autocom from the rear of the auxilliary socket and every thing is fine. I have now bought an optimate and I am considering the following.

Disconnect the wiring completely from the socket, but leave the autocom connected to the wiring.

Re wire the socket directly to the battery with a 10amp fuse so that I can plug in the optimate and anything else that takes my fancy.

Can anybody see a problem with this?

Thanks

This will do the job you want for about $35 delivered in around 5 days. Excellent piece of kit and you can run as many sockets from it as you like. The one you would need is PKT-067-?? The last two digits is the length in inches. If you are going to use the original socket then you need a 12. If you are going to piggy back to a socket on the beak you need a 36. HTH

Thanks for the reply
It says on the website that it is for 2005 and later, mine is 2004 is that a problem?
Thanks

Fit a "cockpit tidy", they come with a socket and all you need to hard wire to the battery.
Fitted mine took about an hour.

Room for some switches also

Is the socket on the cockpit tidy a BMW plug size or the normal car socket size?

Thanks

Hi
£64 try NN

http://www.nippynormans.com/products.asp?dept=262

only £29 for the same article

Being that it's a US site most of us wouldn't pay the $64.95 price but wold prefer to pay the $49.95 on line price, which converts to £26.29. Which excludes taxes, postage and VAT I'd guess. :(

All of which shows how good NN is :thumb

Wedders,,,,, your way is good, its the same thing I did and works a treat,
I put a std BM powerplug in the same socket, (ADV one as odd plug), direct feed to the battery and used the O/E socket wire to connect my Autocom :thumb
