Some of you may remember me posting some pics of my PIAA 510's done by BTBR. The PIAA's obstructed view of the indicators quite a bit. Well I've had the light bar modified so it looks a lot better now.

This is what it looked like:

This is the light bar and the mods I've had done by local steel fabricator. Everything done in stainless steel. Cross braces added to reduce vibration and increase strength.

Looks like Blueyonder don't allow linking ;)

(hmm..actually, I'm getting a 404 from those URL's......maybe they're dynamic?)

Is there a reason why the big lights have to go above the little ones?

Pics back up!

Yes, the little ones are wide spread fog lights, you want them as low as possible. The PIAA's are high beam long but narrow lights so you want them high to get the distance. :thumb

The only comment I would make regarding you making these stronger, and vibrating less; is that if you drop the bike & hit the light bar, it will now have no flex and wreck something on the bike?

I was tempted to make mine with some gussets :P (OK come on with the "why didn't you use metal?" jibes.) But decided against it. I also almost decided to use 3mm S/S but went with 4mm, :clap also made the bar only 40mm wide, in case I dropped the bike, and perhaps damaged something else. I.e. Oil cooler.

I have also cut out 20mm on the fork side to give it extra clearance, just in case the forks whack it. :bounce1

Still no :bow MigSel though. But it was free. :thumb :thumb :thumb :thumb :clap :clap

Hi Sniper,

What are the bottom lights that you have in the setup?

Could you tell me how much and where from.

Those are Hella Micro DE fog lights.
Very good, look nice and won't cost you an arm and a leg :)
Talk to Alan (bigtrailbikerider) for prices.
Cheers,
Michel

That's a good point...I've bent my Migsel bar many times after a drop, and it's a commmon thing to have to bend them back into shape on fords/off road rides......

Not sure I'd want to strengthen something that much.....good engineering but it looks stronger than the thin tubes that support the beak now

I take mine off when I know I'm going off roading. I have rigged up the wiring with some waterproof connectors (made by Wurth) so it takes just a moment to undo the two bolts under the beak and disconnect the wiring and remove the whole light bar with the lights still attached.
