Having woken up yesterday morning in Budapest and then returned home, I am, once again, at London Heathrow.




Mrs M and I have checked in ...

... and are enjoying the hospitality.

Mrs M and I have woken early in our room at The Fairmont, Vancouver - a glorious hotel, once the tallest building in Vancouver, built in the 1930s by the Canadian Pacific Railway.





Many lovely and original features of the hotel have been retained including this mailbox in the lobby...



The weather is decidedly damp, but we have had an early morning womble around. In Gastown we found the famous steam clock...




We took breakfast in The Jam Cafe. It opened at 8am and was full by 8.05am!

A mug of coffee and some chicken and apple sausages with jam and over-hard eggs has set me up for the day!




Walking back to the hotel, we found that somebody has parked a Sherman tank on the sidewalk.




It's not even 9.30am but we're back in our room to dry off and regroup before we head out later.

We've had a wander out to Granville Island - a mixture of tourist markets and industrial - but well worth a visit.

...although I was almost put off my wee by a woman in the next stall coiling one out!

I went to Vancouver Island in 2018. The trees are unbelievable - massively tall and die straight. Many were used in ship building. Did the Royal Navy have a shipyard on Vancouver Island? I can't remember...
