I'm on annual three week tour late may to early June and realise I'm close to Monaco when F1 is on!

Not being a big F1 fan I can't justify race day prices but would Thursday practise day be worth it for the spectacle alone?

Any campsite recommendations in the area close to public transport for Monco as well would be great as I would plan to partake in a few glasses of vino and leave the bike parked up for the day....:beer:

Balls fat fingers and iPad don't work.... Can someone transfer into French forum....

Monaco isn't part of France ;) I'd say if you've never been and don't want the hassle, crowds, cost of the Sunday, then Thursday is a good day out, best to get the grandstand south of the swimming pool so you have the sun behind you most of the day.
As far as campsites go, Antibes, Villenouve Loubet, St Laurent du Var among others have campsites, some of which may be close enough to the train stations and there's a regular service to Monaco.

The cheapest ticket for Thursday practice is £67. If I were in the area on that day, I think I'd go for the spectacle and atmosphere.

60EUR for the tickets on the official site HERE, I'd go for section NOP behind the swimming pool as you can see a fair bit of the circuit from there.

IMO Monaco is a hateful shithole.

Nothing would persuade me to go there unless is was getting paid for it (and there was a good allowance for expenses)

Not a big fan of the place myself, but the spectacle of F1 cars flying round the cityscape is something to behold. Well worth the hour's ride I reckon :D

Worth a visit if you are in the area - I go to the Classique every other year. Be prepared for this to cost €13.00 though ....

Well, I'm going this year after missing a couple of years.
Hope to get on one of the ships in the harbour via connections. First year I went, the cheapest race day ticket was 399 eur and that was 6 years ago!
Having actually got on boat in harbour just past tunnel, it was so noisy we watched the main part of the race on ITV in the lounge!!

For me the attraction is the ride down Route Napoleon, not the race itself but I reckon the cost of thursday would be worth it.

Brilliant, It's amazing, been a few times, the atmosphere is awsome and the sound makes the hairs stand up on the back of your neck:bounce1 the great thing about Monaco it that it act's like an amphitheatre so the sound gets bounced back. Proposed to wife there during a race :angel

We normally camp at a place called Sospal, it's about 30 ish miles away in the hills going back towards Italy, Mrs.Bobble leaves her bike and we ride in on one, easy to park/dump on the side of the road:thumb

Just don't expect your drinks and food to be cheap:blast:D

Here's a pic of folks trying to get a sneak a peak over the fence :D

Oh and Mrs.Bobble and a little chapy checking her out :augie

I wish.....Wouldn't give it a second thought.....F1..... A day in Monaco....60ish euro...Petrol Head's greatest no brainer........

Take your own butties and drinks!!!!!£££££££££

18 euros for 2 cokes and 2 ice creams and that wasn't during the F1 races.

Route Napoleon is an absolute must do imho:thumb

The heli trip from Nice in to Monaco is spectacular and worth a go if you get a chance.

The landing pad is sandwiched between a cliff and the sea!

Going meeself on the race day. Got standing on the ramp down from the tunnel to the harbour 77 euros. Taking my shooting stick, pack -up and electronic ear defenders - sorted !

Riding down to Antibes and was going to train it in to Monte Carlo, but might well take the GSA. Then Route Des Grandes Alps and a week of touring before heading home

Look for the biggest tosser on the ramp - it'll be me ! :eek

Not a huge fan of F1 (but been to Monaco many other times) but it just has to be done at least once, doesn't it ?

Like the photo of Ecclestone, Bobble. Once a dodgy used car salesman, always a dodgy used car salesman !

Go in an 'even' year and watch the Historic Grand Prix two weeks before the real thing. Less crowded, cheaper, and more entertaining. That said, it's well worth going to the F1 once to tick off the box.

I always use this as the heliport is next to the hotel I usually stay in - The Columbus (owned by David Coulthard).

It is also the same price (if you are travelling solo) as a taxi from Nice airport but ever so slightly faster ....

They sometimes fall out of the sky though.
