Recently sold my Bonneville scrambler and looking for a Sunday short runs bike
Quite tempted with a 2009 non evo bike with under 10k miles
Thinking it may be better with a 15 y/o bike not to have abs/traction etc and to keep things simple
Can get it for £600 more than I got for my 07 scrambler
Any views or horror stories?
2 owner with massive service file btw

Great fun bike

There are faster more powerful bikes of that ilk available but that one is a fun machine

It was about the time when Ducati had pretty much got their act together on build and reliability

Service it regularly at Indi and IMO a great bike for the money

Ducati engineering is way better than many realise. I had a 620 and the engine was a peach.

I am no mechanic but maintaining it was easy, including the belts which people seem to stress about. I only needed help with the desmo valve clearances.

Parts are very affordable if you use the wisdom of a good forum - a replacement oil pressure sender from Ford was 1/4 the price of the Ducati part - same part number.

The 620 wasn’t slow, I’d imagine the 1100 would be a load of fun. Oh and the noise…

Try the Ducati forum (.co.uk), though I suspect they might be wondering how much you got for your bike!?
Like most things, later ones are better. The evo version supposed to be very good. I had a 1200r, cracking bike.
Like most things Ducati, most bikes these days…most issues are electrical. Big v twin means the battery needs to be in good condition. BeLt changes are expensive.

I have had a 2013 1100 Evo for the last two years and I love it. The gearbox on mine is a bit stiff and for the first few weeks I was finding false neutrals everywhere but just had to be a bit more positive with changes and it's fine. Most have a sweet gearbox apparently. Handling is fantastic, sounds gorgeous (standard pipe), the bike looks great and makes me smile every time I open the garage door. The only change that I have made was to fit an Evotec tail tidy

I had a 1100s 2010my, 200mls 1 year old when i bought it, fabulous bike, light, pulled like a train and plenty fast enough, sold it a few months ago
