Hello,

Just started to use my new Montana 600.
Copied map to 16 gb MicroSD card.
Tried to open the map I have uploaded but failed.

I only see the preloaded general world map which is inside internal memory.
How can I reach/open saved map in the micrdoSD card?

I read the manual but couldn,t find it out.

I directly copied map to microSD. Should I upload the Basecamp and save the map by basecamp instead of direct copying ?

1. Should I upload routable maps by basecamp or mapinstall to my device?
2. Does Unlocked map means, no need password and ready to use?

I can't say for certain about the Montana but to instal new maps to the SD card in my Nuvi, the "Room 101" blog states that you HAVE to do so using either of the Garmin PC applications above (or Mac equivalent) - you can't just do a file transfer to the card. It's something to do with the device updating the map file library list

Try doing a Garmin user forum search - helped me a great deal when I was struggling with Lifetime Map Updates the first few times (and since - I'm a slow learner )

Map should be in a folder called garmin on the card, if the map is a locked product like city navigator it will need unlocking before it will work.

What is the map your trying to use?
