Moorespeed pistons

I read somewhere , perhaps in the article on Udo Geitl's race bike, that twin plugs heat the head evenly, and prevent distortion of the exhaust valve seat which can occur with a single plug heating one side more than the other.

No power benefit was claimed for twin plugs on this well tuned race bike, but it may be that on a less well developed engine which has less than optimal squish , etc, twin plugs might alleviate a problem which should really be corrected another way.

I choose not to run my 350, 000 km old G/S past 5000 revs most of the time, and I imagine if the timing was set for maximum power at max revs the figure would be different to the one I reached testing it for acceleration up a steep hill.

fayeslane did you already tried one tank ok 95?

tanks

Tried my first tank of 95 today. Under normal riding conditions no pre ignition but still can be induced if you try hard -but why would you?

I have retarded the timing roughly 4 degrees -at idle the OT mark lines up with the timing mark. Still need to get an advance timing gun and set this properly.

Hope this helps. :thumb

The advantages of twin plugging include easier starting and smoother running, the only power advantage comes from the ability to run high compression ratios, with today's crappy fuel. There are a couple of ignition choices available now that give you a wide range of ignition curves so that you can dial in desired numbers from the start.
It sounds from the user feedback that Richie's pistons would benefit from twin plugging. Seibenrock certainly recommend it for the 1070 kit.

Fayeslane-
It has been awhile, how has everything with the pistons worked out?

Worked out excellently for me ....... I sold the bike:D Gave up spending $$$ trying to get modern bike performance (power, braking and handling) from an older bike. Also got an offer I couldn't refuse :thumb

Still in touch with the new owner and he hasn't had any problems. It's a modification I would do again without hesitation.

Hi,
You guys that have played with Moorspeed's gadgets, will the air filter setup work on a Non-GS Monolever? I don't know if there is something about the GS specific in the area of the air filter.

Hi les,

The filter works in any bike. Best to contact richie directly and run it past him, he's very helpful.
