Riding back from Inverness have had a few electrical issues after bike has run fine two previous days. Firstly no indicators - then indicators worked once when I turned the heated grips on, but not afterwards; meanwhile headlight and rear light were flashing on and off intermittently. Turned lights off and after a few stops everything seemed to be working fine; except that headlight (only, not pilot light or rear light), hazards and indicators now work even when ignition is switched off. Have checked ignition wire and is not tight (all cable ties removed a long time ago) and is intact so wondering where to look first? Thanks of all thoughts!

Check the multi earth point in the instrument loom, it's where lots of earths are crimped together all bare with no protection.
The loom that runs from the instruments and along the headstock/frame.

Water gets in the open loom ends and causes the exposed and bare multi earth point to turn to green mush (verdigris). You'll need to slice the loom covering/sheath until you find the multi earth point, about halfway in the loom. .

Thanks Neil - thought had checked everything out last summer but will go over all the wires again!

Did you manage to find this earth point?

I have almost identical symptoms and am going to lift the tank and check the main earth this weekend - just wondered if you found the point Neil identified? One of my other symptoms is random non priming of the fuel pump - I have fitted a new pump / filter but it happened again today... wait a few mins and try again and hey presto its running but today also my sat nav was going from 12v to battery and back again so i must have a loose +ve or earth somewhere... any other thoughts anyone?

I took the tank off, checked the battery connections which seemed fine but I undid them, cleaned them (not that they seemed very dirty) and remade the connections, and everything worked fine and has done since.
