Have a 2000 1150GS and when I turn off at the ignition the bikes ignition is cut but the headlight still stays on. I can turn it on and off at the lightswitch, but the hazard switch is also still live. The side light goes out. The alarm immobiliser kicks in after about 1 minute as per usual and then have to use the fob as per normal to turn it off.

Sometimes it stays on for a minute, sometimes two or not at all.

Not sure whether its the ignition switch but thought as its cutting the ignition and the side light this isn't it.

I also have HID lights so don't know whether its voltage in this system dissipating?

Ideas??

The ignition wiring loom individual cables can chafe against one another and short together. Which could be a possible cause. You could disconnect the ignition switch at the connector on the headstock (orange connector). If the fault persists, then at least you know it's not the ignition switch and loom.

My money is on your alarm system being the cause of all your problems.

Did you fit the HID? If it is wired direct to the battery rather than the bikes original wiring then this may well be the problem.
