Guys, help please.

I have a second hand 2005 GS with the appalling lights you all moan about and was looking at the HID upgrades on here, but would like to do both the main and dipped and its starting to get alittle complicated and costly.

Saw these mentioned on here

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260685745913&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

They appear to be a double kit so would do both but they ask you to quote the type of bub and colour tem needed and I simply dont know.

I know 6000K is about natural sunlight so its a good start but can anyone recommend the best type of buld and recommend colour?

Cheers

Dave

Yes 6000K is a good choice:thumb

You need H7 for your bike.

When you go from dip to high beam the HID will take a few seconds to go to full brightness - so in my opinion you should save yourself some money and just convert your dip:aidan

I had HIDs on both my lights initially but have reverted the high beam back to a standard H7 (Well Jaythro did all the fiddly work:bow)

Hope this helps........

if you just convert the dip, you won't even be able to tell when the high beam comes on. it's feeble yellow glow will just get swamped by the dip.

IIRC i have 6000K burners on my bike. i think they are a tad too blue, but it depends whether you like that or not?

so does that mean if i were to change hte dip and main I would need H7 for both of them?

H7 for both of them. I had 6k and went down to 5k for the same reason as too blue. Not sure if the 2005 has a Canbus system but make sure that they are compatible. Les Wassall of HID50 is your man. Also Les makes a good bracket to hold the ballasts. I started with two and added some aux lights as well so now I have four :D. Cars move well away. You'll also have to decide to go with 35w or 50w. As for the main beam it does take a few seconds to charge. But if you start bike and put on main the ballast will hold the charge for 20 min. On long journeys I give a flick every so often. Decisions...:aidan

people do seem to have some subconscious imperative to move out of the way since fitting the blue tinted lights (and they're not THAT blue) :D

Go for 4300K.

I'm slowly changing all my HIDs from 5000k or 6000k to 4300K. Much more halogen colour/temperature but just loads more light. Apparently it's the optimum HID colour for your eyes to absorbe or something like that.

I'ts definately worth a trip over to see Les and let him fit them. :thumb
I have both dip and main, and have no issues with the time it takes for the main to brighten up. When switching on and off main beam on country roads for cars etc. it's instant. Just make sure you don't switch back to main just as you reach a big, reflective road sign,
