Been up in the Highlands for the last month, flying falcons on the moor and really remote. Last week we followed the usual pattern and popped into the Pittentrail Inn for relaxation and food (read Beer in too)As we went to sit down, I glanced across and saw this bear of a bloke reading a map. I blinked and looked again, "Yeah" I thought, "That looks like GSJohn". He didn't readily recognise me 'cos of the fetchingly rugged beard I'd grown since being there, but yes, it was indeed GSJohn of this very parish. On his way North to do the John O Groats to Lands End run, he'd stopped in Pittentrail for the night. Bearing in mind this village is around 6 miles off the A9 and has a massive population of around 400, and the pub is the only one for MILES around, this was a terrific coincidence.
