So,
having ridden my 06 GS continually through all weathers since the purchase from Balderstons in Peterboro'. I have a problem....
I am of the long legged variety and 6' 3'' , enjoy riding the GS but find my ass is way back on the seat , with a feeling that my knees are knocking the tank sides (if you get the picture ?).With my spine jarring against the rear metal inner frame of the seat.

Does anyone else have this feeling and agree with me that the stock seat is a bit cack to say the least.?
My question is : should i buy one of those rather special Sargeant seats that can go to the higher / standard setting ,knowing that this is not high enough for my legs , and assuming that this may counter my problems ?.

Or does anyone know of another seat manufacturer that could create a seat that works for me both in height and comfort etc...

Look forward to any comment or guidance from you all

Cheers Gommo (soon to become a Tosser) if they'll have me :pullface:pullface

"Arse ache" looks like a German expression, and so it comes with the bike. To cure it please follow the following procedure: Put the front seat setting on high, the low seat setting on low, add an airhawk (medium) for distance work. For further comfort add bar risers and lower pegs. I am 6'4" and know what I'm talking about, any other replies here will be rubbish as they will come from the amazingly large numbers of tiny people that own GSess / GSes / Gs'es / these bikes.

Go ahead and buy a custom seat if you want to part with large amounts of Her Majesty's currency.

And it's "Arse", not "Ass", this isn't ADVrider you know.

And welcome.

:thumb2 What he said.
6'4" here too.....I don't use the lowered pegs 'cos I already have ground clearance issues sometimes, but the bar risers helped a lot......they change the whole way you sit and for £30-ish, well worth trying first :thumb2

Sargeant seats get some rave reviews, but you'll also find a fair few being sold because people didn't get on with them.....it's an expensive mistake to make:blast

PS you've taken out the rubber pootpeg bungs already I presume?
if you haven't, there's a smidgeon of space to be had there immediately and for free :thumb

6`6" with long legs too :thumb2 I must say cramped legs are not something that I find a problem on the GS. The only time I felt the need to stretch them out was when I was doing 6hr riding days back to back, I did have an Airhawk fitted that raised me up a little. It`s a standard height seat too, same setup as Expat, High at front low at rear.

Expats right too, under 6`3" need not reply :D :D

Don`t bite, they drag you down to their level then beat you with experience :blast

gommo, I've just moved your thread over to the 1200 section where I think you'll get a much better response to your questions.

Welcome to UKGSer, enjoy your stay with us ...... erm .... Dr gommo :D

Much appreciated

You dont need to gommo, you're already there, I dropped your thread into the 1200 Technical Rider section for you.

:)

I'm 6'6" with a 36" inseam. I have the seat on high at the front and low at the back to keep my weight on my arse rather than my b******s. I also have lowered footpegs, without which the seat position (as forbidden in the owners handbook) is unusable. I have no plans to add bar risers but would welcome the loan of a high seat to see if it helps.

i am 6ft4 and not tried any modifications yet, i found the standard GS almost the same has the GSA for comfort and wind buffeting.

I kind of 'slouch' down a bit, getting my head a little lower, and i am really comfy.

You could also raise your seat by fitting spacers under the seat locating points. I don't know about the 1200's but this thread shows how it's done on an 1100/1150. It's a cheap and easy way of raising your seat at little or no expense.

with you on the "slouch " approach i also invested in a high wide screen from Nippy's for last winter which definately helps too , well worth the few quid
