Morocco HUMM May 2015

I was thinking about doing the same. I will also book a twin room if someone also wants to pair up.

I have never tried 9 hours in one stint so I don't know how practical that is, we could play it by ear. We don't have to book now, if we leave Palencia early with the intention of getting as far south as possible then if necessary either find a camp site or hotel if it gets too late.

Pete, did you get breakfast with that price?

I have ridden my R1 and GS to Milan in one hit which is almost exactly an 11 hour ride from Calais to Milan and I can tell you it was a bit of a mission. Of course I could have split it but I just wanted to get to where I was going. 9 hours is easily doable given that we have a nice comfy bed waiting for us at the end of it. The benefit would be an extra day in Morocco as we could cross over on the Monday instead of the Tuesday. We could then maybe head into Rabat for a night. Its just an idea but like you said, we can remain flexible. I will ID some hotels and campsites along the route just so we have some idea on the day.

Yeah, room rate with breakfast but if someone wants to pair up I will contact the hotel, convert it into a twin room and annotate 2 adults then each of us get the breakfast. It's not going to be a full English though is it :(

Change of plan for my lot, will meet you at Ifrane on Friday the 15th, just booked into a hotel for two nights, just £20.00 per night, has on suite rooms as well. We are not doing the Humm so thought we'd rather have more time to tour around after the event. Would still like to meet up with you orrible lot before we depart.

Pikey, can you share the name of the hotel with us, if we do just blast down through Spain (and that makes sense so as to maximize time in Moroc) sounds like we might need accn before the HUMM!
Although I'm inclined to stay at hotels/lodges and preferably those that have Bedouin like tents) I'll be taking a minimum amount of camping kit (tarpaulin rather than tent and sleeping bag etc) in case we get stuck.

Planning Meet - Sun 8 March 2015

As I mentioned earlier in the thread, how about we meet on Sun 8 March somewhere in the Bath/Bristol or Frome area and do a bit of planning ahead of the Ace Cafe meet in 23 Mar when hopefully a few more could join up?
Let me know if you're free and if you know a suitable venue - on with large tables and free wifi!
Alternatively, I'm living in Bristol during the working week so could meet pretty much any evening.

Happy meet up on the 8th Mar. I do not know anywhere personally but as a starter for ten, a quick search online threw up Society Cafe in the centre of Bath. It has tables, wifi and what looks like a place to park outside. I'll keep my eye out for any other recommendations.

Society Cafe looks good to me, I was going to suggest the Nunney Catch Roadside Cafe a bit further south near Frome but it's closed on Sunday. Shall we say from 2pm on Sunday 8 March then?

8 March is good for me too. I will see you about 2:00. May be a good idea to bring any maps/guides etc.

I know this area well and this cafe will be busy, there are far more suitable places to meet up, somewhere a little quieter where we can take our time to discuss the plan in action.

Yes certainly, it's by no means 5 star but is plenty adequate for us travellers. Hôtel Relais Ras El Maa http://www.booking.com/hotel/ma/ha-tel-relais-ras-el-maa.en-gb.html

Are you gonna say where then or is it a secret? :D

Yep come on Pikey, put us out of our misery, where do you suggest we meet - New Inn at Farmborough (near Keynsham)? Although that could be busy on Sunday too - like most places I guess? I have another option, The Willow Brook in Bradley Stoke, next to the Tesco Extra just off J16 (Aztec West) of M5, spacious, good food, free wifi and bags of parking and missus can do the weekly shop while we're talking - now beat that Pikey?! :friday

Another 'off the wall' recommendation: The gateway cafe at the Cotswolds Water Park next the outdoor store. Free wifi, never mega busy and can pick up a few bits in the shop while we are there. Just throwing it out there. We could always just thrash it out in Palencia, got my room booked :beerjug:

Either of those places sound good, want a place with a bit of space, not to busy with wifi. Someone make a choice.

Gateway café it is then, choice made. Think someone said Sunday 8th Mar, 2.00pm in an earlier post. See you there.

+1, that's four in agreement, surely a majority! I can get a 10% in-shop discount at the Cotswold Camping shop next door if anyone wants some kit. Who's booked the weather?! If it's good I may ride up there for lunch first if anyone fancies meeting en route.

If I'm not mistaken I think you can actually book a table as well which is a bit of a Brucey. I'll give them a call over the weekend and see what the bobby moore is. Be aware, they close at 4. I'll get there about 1 so I can have a look round the shop and a bite to eat. Will bring a laptop and a map (if it arrives in time). See you there chaps.

1 o'clock may be a better time if everyone can make it, we can have a spot of lunch before we plan. If the weather's appalling I may bring my car. :nenau
