Morocco HUMM May 2015

Andrew, Whats your plan after the event? back to Holland or up to Santandar with Bazzer and Patrick?? I am contemplating a hard right to Italy for the Moto GP but depends on work giving me 4 weeks off.

I didn't even think about the moto gp but it sounds good - depending if I can get the time off work ? How long were you thinking for the trip to Ital, gp and back to Calais ?

Andrew

Team, I've knocked up some kind of spreadsheet so we can establish some kind of route plan. If you ping me your email addresses I can distribute so we all have something to work off maybe or I can print and bring along to the pub/cafe whenever we meet up.

I get

"GSTraveller has chosen not to receive private messages or may not be allowed to receive private messages. Therefore you may not send your message to him/her."

I will use the email address you posted earlier and mail you direct.

Cheers,

Patrick

Should be sorted now :ukgser, now a fully fledged member! :clap

Cheers Patrick,

It just gives you an overview of locations and distances so we can tweak as necessary. That being said, I do like to remain flexible and in the past it has not been uncommon for the plan to be thrown out the window but we are fixed on a few dates such as the ferry crossings and of course, the HUMM itself.

I'm a little doubtful as to whether or not we will be able to plan too much after the event. Conscious that Jeff is going to want to cut away early in the week following. Also, you are probably best spending at least one night in Spain prior to your ferry back, possibly two just in case of any issues crossing back.

I reckon we should try and find a nice place to camp/stay north east of infrane maybe, the night before we are due to check in. Been scanning the forums, there is so much info out there, its difficult to zero in on a suitable location but I'd definitely prefer to hit Moroc sooner rather than later.

Pete

Hi, happy to follow the plans you have put together guys, thanks. Getting to Morocco on time would be my personal plan and therefore only suggestion. Riding through Spain is nice but is a means to an end.
Like a mix of camping and hotels so will have tent etc in preparation (having said that, never camped in Morocco, places to stay were too cheap to bother (and the grounds too hard!!))
Not joining the tours after, I will be making a slow journey back to Santander for the Thurs 21st sailing (not sure whether to ride back up via Med, middle Spain or
Portugal route, will see how the bike and I feel)
email is jeffwkirby@[email protected]@.uk
Thanks for organising, looking forward to meeting and making the trip.
Name selection sounds good.

Reference meeting up, we are quite spread out. Anyone fancy sticking a pin in the middle and meeting up in Trowbridge one weekend or even heading to somewhere like Ace Cafe? Bath or Stonehenge could be a suggestion also. Just throwing stuff out there??

Good work with the spreadsheet:beerjug:
Really good to have an overview of all the days and distances. I'm expecting the plan to change (because it usually always does ) but I'm easy as long as we make the Humm (and possibly the moto go for me and Pete).

I'm quiet often back in the UK between ilminster, Bristol and london so if I'm around on the day's you guys meet up that will be great otherwise I'll just go with the majority :)

I think a day before in/near ifrane before the Humm will be a good idea ?

Andrew

Bazzer, as we are both in Bristol during the week whats the best night for you to meet up, I can do any evening this week except Thursday. I am in Clifton which is walking distance to the centre, whereabouts are you?

Of course anyone else is welcome to come along but following on from GSTraveller's suggestion I think we should set a date more centrally, say in 2-3 weeks. Drewafrica, are you in Holland atm, any chance you will be back soon?

If Drewafrica's travelling down from London then I suggest somewhere along the M4, otherwise Trowbridge/Devizes maybe.

Another option, any rallies coming up? The only one I know of is the ABR Malvern Hills rally on March 13/14.

Hi Neavey

I am in Holland at the moment but I'm flying back to London on the 18th of feb and then I'm around until the 25th. I doubt I'll have much time free this trip but if I'm not around or can't make it ill trust the decisions that have been made.

I'm also keen to see as much of Morocco as possible after the humm.

I'm thinking about this trip Mark, won't go to the Humm thingy but would be nice to travel around Morocco, we normally go south in May so why not Morocco. I will ride down through France, Andora and Spain but could possibly meet you at the ferry port to Morroc.

For future reference, there is an interesting thread here about hotels near the Algeciras ferry. I like the sound of the Holiday Inn Express.

I'm not fussed where we stay but I think its definitely wise to set off across the channel first thing. I have been reading that book that Bazzer mentioned earlier in the thread, really interesting, especially the part about which ports to use.

Pikey, do you fancy joining me and Andrew for the ride down through France (departing 06th May) or will you be taking it slower?

Pete

Oh yes definitely, we need to be somewhere close the night before and get the first ferry next morning. From what I have read the Algeciras-Tangier ferry is the one to go for.
