Morocco - like I said, it won't be easy

I'd like to go also, but don't have complete faith in my skills as an off rider :o

So I'll probably go with a "professionally" organised group, then I won't worry about impinging on someone elses holiday.

Or spend the next year practicing, all the threads on this and other sites surely indicate to me that the best fun is to be had off tarmac. But I guess that may be an easy assumption for someone who enjoys off roading and I appreciate it's not for everyone.

It may be a trap some fall into, buy an ADV watch the LWR, get the TT gear only to find it can be hard, you don't like it, it can damage your bike and hurt.

So best only do what you really enjoy, I don't do track days because of the above

Tour leading......................damned if you do and damned if you don't

Never easy.......been there, done that and probably will again

Like they say.............you can't please all of the people, all of the time.

Tim, enjoy what you do.....................because you do it well :thumb

I'd go on one of your Adv jaunts, if I was confident and fit enough to ride the Morrocan pistes, beautiful as they are.........they look tricky at best and the main factor would be dehydration/heat exhaustion and general tiredness

You have to be a fairly handy off road rider on a 250kg bike (a 120kg pogo-stick is no comparison, nor is a BMW Off-Road Skills taster) to go where those boys went, Tim & Ian B are.......looking at Tim C's pics recently, show up the adversity of it all

I've done a bit offroad (see the Avatar) for 25 years, but i'm still a novice..............don't blame Tim :nono

Look at yourselves, could you have done more in terms of preparation/realistic expectations of your abilities and your perception of such a trip?

Horses for courses, spring to mind and when the going gets tough, you have to dig deep, deep into your own reserves and determination.....

Steptoe's trip was a feat of human endurance and those boys dug deep too :clap :bow .......5000 + miles in little over a week, is HARDCORE (I've only done 3500 miles in 7-8 days and that was tough)

Tim's trip was HARDCORE too, but in a different way

I can't remember what training you said people ought to do for months before we go - was it nightclubbing until the early hours and getting p*ssed up 3 times a week and practise riding at over 100mph every weekend and some weekdays or have I got the wrong tour thread?

:D

Great piccies Tim!

May be you should insist these Tossers do some off road riding before they agree to come. Then again, a day at the infamous Beemer off road 'skool' should suffice

Why do some of these hero's think a few weeks 'greening' on an unladen GS is going to prepare them for several hundred clicks of piste riding in the searing heat miles away from from the nearest town? :(

It's entertaining mate I'll say that. As our conversation last week at the café, I 100% agree and sympathise with you. You've got more feckin patients than me!

Catch ya soon!

If i want to go - will you hold my hand for me.

I'm only 48 years old, and never had to fend for myself.

Gentlemen...

Where?

It is not like yer all stuck in a truck without the option of doing yer own thing. Thought that was why we ride bikes?

The best thing to take on a trip - tolerance. And a seperate tent. :)

Thanks for the write up tim etall, I'll take note of M5.

Reading the adventure reports and seeing the associated breath taking pictures is rewarding.......nearly as fascinating as the after event sagas. :D
