Ted,

Have you been watching the weather forecast? Moscow forecast to get even colder next week -30deg C to -35degC. Shall we rule your trip out for the next few weeks and wait until the weather get above -20??

Let me know what your plans are because my heated vests not working at the moment and I havent got TKCs on so the snow might be a bit of a problem.

Sorry to be a bit of a wuss. :eek

:D :D :D :D Fixed...... :D :D :D

Who's joking

Dont worry Ian I will wait till your ready.
My contact over there says its to cold to go out at the moment anyway. ;) And the tyres wouldnt warm up till Berlin :D
Am planning a quick trip over in March just to see if its feasible or a non starter. Got the info from the embassy. Basically whatever you have in the way of paperwork it must be translated into russian and have about half a dozen copies. Its about 1800/2000 road miles, just to get there. And my Garmin has no base map past Poland!!

You thought I was joking didnt ya :hapybnce:

See you next month at the windmill

I took you by your word.

I just happened to notice what the weather was like over there at present and I thought I would mention that it might be better to wait a few weeks ...........make that 6 months. :thumb :D

I have a cunning plan

Looking like middle of May after the May Day (Russian) holidays, also cheaper to find accomodation less crowded as well as better weather. Just need some maps of Poland etc seem to run into a wall just east of Berlin :(
Sell nice chocolate
This was a white aero type I happened to come across. I thought it was milk but I think it got mixed up in the translation
Any one tell me what it says ? Hope its not laxative I'v just had half of it
More planning to do. Knowing me I'll just say F*** it and fly over :P
Sorry to miss the pub night as well. Be in touch :thumb

It is White Chocolate, air chocolate very similar to our Aero. My wife tells me it is excellent quality, very traditional, with high quality ingredients, the three medals on the front indicate it is good stuff.

Having a Russian wife has some uses :thumb

Chocolate and riding to Mockba

The chocolate factory is (was?) just across the river from the Kremlin, round the corner from the British Embassy.

May is a good time to ride to Moscow - the Ukranian step is very pretty then and the termpartures all the way across should be in the 20s. Any earlier and you'll be wet and/or cold and later gets HOT!

I've ridden into Russia 3 times and never had to have documentation translated into Russian - although they will do Russian forms on the border - It's a good idea to get a English version of the 'Deklaratsi' form before you go so you have some idea of what each box is on the Cyrillic form - important to know which are the trick question boxes about 'do you have any drugs, firearms or explosives with you?' - I kid you not.

Distance - I did Manchester - Moscow - St petes - Helsinki - Travemunde - Manchester - 4,700 miles.

I'll have a look at home - may have one.

I seem to remember something in the lonely planet - have a look at one in Waterstones.

Try asking on www.horizonsunlimited.com.

It's not vital that you get genned up before you go cos the border staff will help you if you smile nicely.
