Most recent Best tyres for 1150GS?

On road: Dunlop Roadsmarts.

Have had them on my 12GS for the past 6,000 miles: UK, France, Belgium, Luxemburg, Germany. Nurburgring, Cadwell Park.

Superb in the twisties, rock-steady on the Autobahn (up to the rev limiter in 6th) and on unpaved, muddy Belgian trails. Sun, rain, no worries. Useless on snow and ice :).

I reckon they are good for another 3,000m (which is 3,000 more than the last set of Tourances).

In a word: brilliant!

PS: the avatar shows the GS on Roadsmarts at Cadwell Park. The sidestand mount is dragging...

I had Trailwings on the bike as fitted when i bought it and managed to get right to the edge of the tread on both wheels for road work without any major dramas.......they lasted 5000 miles

Now on Tourances and the front has done 3000 miles with the rear doing 2000 so far and no complaints about them at all, plenty of feel and heat up quickly when in the twisty bits chasing sports bikes. I am thinking about a more road based fitment as i dont do more than gravel farm tracks at the moment but having come from a diet of sportsbikes over the past few years anything over 2-25000 miles on a rear tyre is a bonus :D

1 front & 2 rears in about 12,000 miles has made me very impressed with Continental Road Attacks. Just fitted a brand new pair for my trip to the Ardennes next week.

The recently replaced pair would've been good for another 1000 miles or more, just not enough to last the trip.

Had the Continental TA's on the last two bikes. Seem to have grip far in excess of my capabilities, no noise or vibration worries either. Seem to last well too.

:thumb2:thumb2:thumb2:thumb2same here,,,
distanzias are ok,
but on a lighter bike like my old fundy, they were terrible if you changed direction quickly

When I bought the GS from the previous owner it had Anakee's on it, I wasn't please by their performance, went for the Tourance's EXP and I very satisfied, amazing grip and well performance on wet roads (especially Greek wet roads...).
I had also the chance to test them over Italian roads (amazing...) where I was thrilled, not a single scarry moment...

Another vote for the AVON's, not been happy with how Bridgestones 'went off' when worn. New bike has just had Tourances fitted (not EXP's) so I'll see how they do......

Hang on......I've been suckered into a tyre thread! :blast

dunlop roadsmarts , had to wait a week for tyres but amazing through the twisties , stable sure footed , change of direction , holding / adjusting line mid corner , trail braking and squirting out of corners only problem is they make the engine feel the weakest link . after 2 months on wooden anakees road tyres rock .

anything less than 1000's ridden half hearted beware rabbied r1150gs is comin to get ya .

cheers martin
