6 hours down mostly motorways(new Bip n Go was faultless) to Temis Hotel,Besançon.Hotel was safe for the bike, clean n tidy.
Bus stop was a minutes walk away so I opted to be a bus wanker,€2.65 each way,pay on the bus.

This isn't a perv shot(much)is was nice to see a group of ladies enjoying themselves, chatting and laughing, engaging with each other for a good hour or so,not a phone or tattoo in sight, also very 😍

Possibly a watch factory outside the hotel.

I was half expecting an italian motorcycle to feature!

Safe travels
👍

I wouldn’t park the bike anywhere near that Herrace fencing, the roof is ready to collapse. 😬😎

Early start, skipped getting any grub as me sketti n egg had done the job the night before. The Held jacket i was wearing had pretty much fell apart so i left it on th hook and put on the Richa mesh jacket I'd brought with me(Had 4 missed calls from the hotel when i checked me phone :D )So it's off to the Alpazur hotel at Val Cenis(Credit to Steve398 for this one, cheers Steve, was great)
Was another 4/5 hour ride down, but all good in the beautiful sunshine, temperatures hitting early 30's.
View from the hotel room

After a much need shower and cool down had a quick nosey round the small town
20260824-155150.jpg

20260824-155207.jpg

Got the makings of a jambon n fromage baguette
20260824-163605.jpg

Sat next to the river in the glorious if not windy sunshine, people watching.
20260824-163728.jpg

Popped into a bar for a pint and spied these
IMG-20260824-WA0004.jpg

Thas was enough for me,I was knackered and needed me bed. W

Up bright n early, out on the bike.Decided to go over to Val d'Isére, which took me over some cracking mountains/roads

20260825-114503.jpg

As I passed over the peak there was a lot of commotion, was very busy so didn't stop, was concentrating on not hitting anyone/anything(I should have payed more attention)
Dropped down into Val d'Isere for a spot of lunch(has steak and it was shite)

This was the point I realised I should have payed more attention as I went over the top, they were setting up the finishing post for a cycle race:ROFLMAO:
20260825-152334.jpg

20260825-153155.jpg

All roads now shut, couldn't get out of town,so me and a fair few other "trapped bikers" watched the race, considering they had peddled the contraptions from Chamonix, they didn't seem out of breath.2 hours later we were on our way,or so we thought.Got to the base of the mountain to be informed no through road till at least 7 o'clock, I tried putting in alternative route in the Tomtom but it was calculating 3 hours round the mountain, feck that.
A group of ,Austrian campers(on motorbikes)talked there way through to be allowed to the site 100m up the road,I tagged on behind, they turned right to the site and I carried on going.Got a few kilometres before being stopped by a decent copper,I played dumb but was made to park up,then 20 minutes later he let me and the other go.Thank feck for that, was now nearly 6.Up over the mountain and back to the hotel to find a couple of German bikers has put their 2 bikes just inside the garage door, leaving the rest of the garage empty but blocked,i wedged me GSA in and shut the door, cocks.Quick shower and out,
got meself a chicken of the rotisserie for later, for now it was some Kwack n cake
20260825-191549.jpg

20260825-191621.jpg

That cake was something else,I had plans for more in the morning before I left.
Back to me room and bed,was pretty knackered
20260825-204931.jpg

Tomorrow was into Italy over Mont Cenis.

Sounds like a great trip so far, and I’m happy the hotel worked out for you, my wife has stayed there several times on skiing trips. Enjoy the road out into Italy 👍

Italy:okay
Up early, 5 hour ride in front of me in what promised(and it delivered) to be a warm, very warm ride.
So it was up and over Mont Cenis, wish I'd stopped for some photos but it was cool and I wanted to get some miles under me belt.
20260826-083017.jpg

As I passed over into Italy the roads changed, they were/are in a shocking state.Down from Mont Cenis is a half decent surface with some good twists, but that was it.The roads off the tolls are something else,as is the standard of driving.I've been to Italy before but don't remember it this bad,the roads and the driving.Anyway,I digress and it's on to my over night stop in a Tuscan mountain village.
Castagneto,Carducci it was,but why on gods earth had I booked this for a 1 nighter I have no idea, what possessed me.Could'nt park outside the room, was a feckin hike up some vertical paths, and it was hot, bloody hot-35C.I was cursing my stupidity.
After hitting the shower I wondered of to get some grub, stopped on a side street bistro, was very nice.
20260826-183458.jpg

20260826-190913.jpg

No booze, was to hot.Back to the room and the bike situation got the better of me,went down and got it and parked it nearer the room, was told to expect a fine as I had bought it into the fza area,or what ever it was called.

Didn't sleep a wink,30C and no aircon, just a silly fan made an awful night, again, what possessed me.

Had enough at 5 in the morning, had another cold shower, packed me bags and upto the bike.Packed everything on,unlocked and ready to roll, all good.Around 5 miles up the road I realised I didn't have me glasses on,id left them on the topbox, pulled over in hope but no-gone:rolleyes:double fuck and another fuck on top.It was to hot to be bothered about it,another 4 hours in this 🥵 heat.

Got to Anzio around midday, they kindly let me in early, shower, shower, then another cold shower, air con on full tilt-GREAT STUFF.Me mind kept drifting off to the last stop, what possessed me.
Nipped up the local shop for a few supplies and that was enough for the day,a cool bed was more than welcoming, slept really well.

Up nice and early, bit of breakfast then an hours stroll into town, along filthy roads, litter, lots of litter is everywhere.
The whole idea of Anzio was to see stuff about the landing in WW2 "Operation Shingle"
20260828-110849.jpg

20260828-114050.jpg

This marks the spot where the British landed, I hadn't realised we were so involved, thought it was mainly an American venture.

As I was down at the dock I was watching a trawler offload it's catch,it really is something quite nice to watch the locals come down and buy straight from the boats

I stuck me phone in a bit to far and was asked if I wanted to buy some fish,I kindly declined the offer.

Back for a mooch round town,it was getting hot, very hot,the humidity was making a feel temperature of 40C
Screenshot-20260828-113223-Weather.jpg

20260828-111910.jpg

Me hands were leaking and swelling up
20260828-114210.jpg

20260828-114753.jpg

Again,rubbish .
20260828-115006.jpg

The beaches have to be paid for so giving them a swerve.

20260828-134256.jpg

20260828-135317.jpg

Time for a quick snack, may not look anything special but let me tell you, that was possibly the best lasagne I've ever had,out of a plastic tray.

20260828-132936.jpg

Another not so great idea was getting an ice cream,it was running down my hand quicker than I could eat/lick it :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
20260828-130104.jpg

Spent the rest of the day wondering round, sightseeing, people watching, few 🍺 then time for a bit of dinner.
Whilst nosing at a menu this Italian geezer starts waffling away at 100mph,hands going here there and everywhere 😀 😄 turns out it was the fisherman from earlier who asked if I wanted to buy any fish, apparently he'd been up earlier to collect payment from the restaurant and had stayed for the vino,he was rocking.
The waiter seperated us and said he had some fresh tuna not 10 hours out of the sea, that was good enough for me,grilled tuna it was
20260828-183535.jpg

That was me done, time for a taxi.Used me Uber app, whilst you don't actually get an Uber, you get an "IT" taxi linked to Uber. The fella picked me up and did nothing but moan about Uber, blah, blah, blah, great Italian end to the day :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

The hazards of a communal shared garage. I have seen it happen with bikes blocked in, in the morning. It goes without saying that the owners of the bikes causing the blockage were snoring in their pits.

Had they of put the said bikes one in front of the other(presuming two German bike were together) to either side of the garage then they are neither blocked in or blocking anyone else. Most of the bikers were paired up,so it can easily be done .

Should have got Wapping’s kitty app thing….

Probably talking a leaf out of some here’s books and protesting that someone had poured 2 mil more into their glass of wine and they should therefore pay more.

That requires a degree of thought, several levels above some. It was a good job they didn’t arrive after you, or your early start would have involved more than losing your glasses.

Today was the day for Monte Cassino,a place I've longed to visit.Nothing to do with religion on my behalf,it's the architecture. From being literally flattened in WW2,to what it is today is something very special, very special indeed.
100 mile ride there so I set of early(ish)it was again,a very warm day.

20260829-155132.jpg

Although me mesh jacket n trousers are cooler than average, I decided I was riding back commando, something I later regretted.
Stopped for a bit of pizza and 2 bottles of much needed Fanta, splash of me favourite accompliment
20260829-160616.jpg

And onwards.
Got back to the hotel(which is very nice)and me left leg is in some pain, should of covered up
20260829-171917.jpg

Had a long cold shower then just layed on the bed for an hour, bollox, need to go out for some grub.Throw me leg over the bike anf catch the buckle holding me chain n lock bag, yoiks
