Hi guys, I needed to leave my bike in greek island because of bad weather this winter and it is 58 plate adv will need an Mot soon, can I do mot in greece or bike needs return to uk? or can the bike stay in there without Mot?

Many thanks

You may well find that if the MOT is overdue then your insurance is invalid. If I were you I'd check out the DVLA or VOSA websites and then email them for specific advice. If they tell you the facts of what you can / can't do its worth a hell of a lot more than getting a load of opinions on here.

It's normally an offence to ride in the UK without an MoT on a bike that should have one.

With the gizzmos that the Bill have these days, you're likely to get pulled before getting too far.

You could book an MoT near your home for the day that you return and say that you're riding to a pre-booked test.

I wouldn't have a problem putting the bike in for an MOT, well, apart from having to pay for it:D My bike is alway roadworthy, but some of the bikes you see running round here with bald tyres, chains dangling really dangerously etc. Som people obviously need reminding their bikes are dangerous.
If it's every two years like the cars here, that wouldn't be bad...

As long as the bike is booked in at the MOT station you will be OK with the law. Just make sure you gove the MOT station your registration number so the police can check. you can legally drive a vehicle without an MOT when you are taking it to get one :thumb2

As long as you're driving it straight there and it's a reasonable distance away ie. close! as was once pointed out to me by a knob:rolleyes:

There is no MOT in Greece...don't know if you need to make arrangements with you local authorities, but in case you need something in Greece drop me a pm.

Traffico in spain are going after UK vehicles now and looking for mot certs. We saw them in Estepona this week. Im getting an Irish bike for there because we dont have an mot for bikes so its less complicated. :augie
