Can anybody help with some info.

this maybe a daft and obvious question so here goes.

I have a small crack in the lense of my headlight on my 1100GS from what looks like a stone chip and it's due it's MOT soon would this be considered a fail even though the light works fine?

cheers

LIGHTS

Of the 20% failure rate on bike MOT tests, over half are for defective lights. Quite amazing since these are amongst the simplest items to check yourself before going to the test.

The requirements are simple, and quite straightforward to replace or adjust, without the need of a mechanic.

HEADLIGHTS & TAIL LIGHTS must be free of chips or cracks; the headlight must also work on main and dip beam, the main beam must shine directly ahead and the dip slightly lower and to the left.

INDICATOR LIGHTS must all flash at a steady rate and the warning lights function properly.

If a HAZARD WARNING SYSTEM is fitted, all 4 indicators must flash at a steady uniform rate.

Bikes must have a red REFLECTOR on the rear of the machine, either bolted on separately or as part of the tail light lens.

oops :(

blimey i didn't know that. last time i had one in my car, the tester said it was ok unless the beam was fecked.

then i would have to empty the water out :P

Just put a bit of clear sealer over it to stop moisture getting in. If the beam pattern is ok (which it should be if dry in side the light) it will pass.
i am an mot tester car @ bike :D

can you clarify the comment below from Lou can regarding HID lamps
http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53230&page=3&pp=16

as quite a few people have fitted, and Nippy also sells kits, I was not aware , but .........

]Just thought it worth mentioning that if you fit an HID in replacement of your dipped beam I am led to believe your bike will be illegal. HID's require self levelling suspension and headlight washing/wiping facility (not your hand and a grubby glove).

Fitment as a main beam or spots don't suffer the same penalty

Is it emarked for a start @ it will have to have a flat beam pattern or kick up to the left if it has the above it should pass .
hope this helps

I've attached a couple of images of the offending lamp could you have a look and let me know if this is okay, as Motorad want 130 ukp for a replacement.
