Hi all, I am looking to book my GS in to get an MOT very soon. I want to put it somewhere where I can either view it being done or trust the people not to leave it running on the stand and mess up the engine etc.

I don't want a make work/profit garage either. Any recommendations?

Steptoe!

not sure he does MOT's but he must be able to get them done!

I use two garages for bike MOT's. None of them specialise in bmw's.
Hence why i use them, they haven't a clue what goes wrong or wears out on BMW's.
I'd steer well clear of getting an mot at a garage that knows about BMW's.. :D

any JUST M.O.T place as thay are not looking for work and you can sit and look at your bike

Dunstalls of Beckenham.

All MOT stations are required to have a viewing area so anyone will do
Cheers

crikey,it's an mot.a basic safety inspection.if it fails you need a slap for not maintaining it properly.:D:D
joking aside,if you disagree with the tester in the event of a failure there is a clear proceedure for this, the mot station really will not want VOSA sniffing around.ask the tester to explain why it has failed.
i feel sure the failure will be justified.

If you fancy a little ride out this guy is great for MOT. Ural moto in West Kingsdown (by Brands Hatch) turn up no appointment. 01474 855662 Guy's name is Neil

I did ring you and appreciated your advice. I have spent today doing the final pre MOT bits and cleaning etc. It's been stored for five years and unfortunately is running rough. It feels to me that it needs a good blast but as it has not MOT, tax or insurance this is not possible for me. I miht chuck it in a van and bring it in for a a bit of knowledgeable attention.

All you should need an MOT tester for, is to complement you on your ability to look after your ride:thumb.

It was running rough due to the throttle cable being unseated. Brilliant advice on that on this very forum. Booked in for MOT tomorrow with SGT Motorcycles in Merton high Street. They don't appear to have any BMW's for sale in the shop!:)
