Moto guzzi t3

Ah, thanks all……
If I was to do it, I would f course keep all the bits so it could go back to being a California.

But I understand it maybe wouldn’t be the right thing to do and the guzzi aficionados would want to crucify me.

Back to the search for a good t3 instead…….

I think there's currently one for sale with a Moto guzzi club GB member. I'll have a look shortly and let you know.

Thanks for the links both…….
I like the look f the red one on ebay…..shame it’s so far away from me.

I owned a slightly rough looking Cali T3 some moons ago and loved it. Was my first experience of floorboard and heal/toe shifting which grew on me. Better still the linked brakes which were superb after some adjustment (in my brain) to them. Cali bits apart - the T3 is a lovely bike to ride, I'm under 6 foot so never experienced the dis-comfort some do with the cylinders being too close to knees etc..

I confess that I de-Cali'd mine slightly by fitting a V1000 seat which was much more comfortable and could handle a pillion. The original black and white 'buddy' seat doesn't do for passengers too well although looks the part - if you like that sort of thing. I did eventually put the proper seat on it when I sold it on so it wasn't a case of parts being sold off and lost forever.

If you buy one you will probably keep it for years, great low tech, easy to fix and ride and just a 'feel good bike'. Mine was a little tired when I got it but handled well after I persuaded cartridges into the forks and put some Hagons on the back. Agree with what was said above though - they are getting long in the tooth now so getting a good one to start with is the key.

Graham is there much difference between T3 and airhead ownership? There seem to be lots of parallels.
Hi Paul - Not much experience with airhead Beemers I'm afraid. Back in the '90's I borrowed my mates R100S to go to a rally in Wales. Four things stick in my memory.

  • On the way to my mates house the Bing carb bowl came off pouring fuel all down my right leg.
  • Me and my mate decided to take Friday off and go the scenic way. We had to pull into the car park at Avebury stone circle to put out a small fire in the headlight bucket (wiring shorting)
  • When I got there I'd lost an exhaust hanger and has to scrounge some copper wire to 'fix it'
  • I thoroughly enjoyed riding it (I was a Jap 4 rider up until that point so it was quite different
So is a T3 like riding around on an airhead. Yes I expect it is :ROFLMAO:

The original wiring and electronics on the Guzzi are shit. Otherwise, pretty similar experiences of airhead/T3 ownership.

Wreford

Cancel my last post. I recon t wouldnt be too much to de-cali a Californian….fit proper footpegs, change bars and get rid of the wheelbarrow ones for normal bars…maybe change seat.

Please send me details of your Californian…

Thanks
