Well, after nearly two years of talking about it, planning, raising money and selecting vehicles, my new business is about to launch.

Along with three others who will hopefully be involved in the business as we develop, I'm going back to Morocco in October for another recce mission to scout some more routes, look at and negotiate with Hotels and GPS log enough camping places as we'll need....then in November I'll be running a POGO trip.......single cylinder dirt bikes only...EDIT.....PLEASE READ ON.......THIS IS NOW OPEN TO LARGER BIKES AS WELL

In January there will be a supported GS trip, then in March a trip further afield, including an off-road Sahara crossing, for GS's/Dual sport bikes...this will go all the way to Gambia, crossing Mauritania, Senegal and the Disputed region of the Sahara desert.

So I'm going to need numbers........these first trips will be cheaper than subsequent ones as they will be the first and there may well be some minor glitches to iron out, so get in early if you want to experience Morocco soon!!!

November 2006......POGOS & Dual sports

Lead by an experienced guide in Morocco, with full 4x4 back up, the trip will start in Marrakesh and head up into the High Atlas.
There will be a lot of off roading, mainly gravel rock and sand pistes of varying levels of difficulty, and we will get into the Sahara Desert 'proper' and experience sand dune riding, long open flat expanses of hard sand and rock as well as some river bed riding and the sections in between on tarmac.

Accompanied all the time by a 4x4 equipped with Sat phone, first aid kit, camping and cooking equipment, this first trip will be fairly 'hardcore', with camping on the majority of nights. *EDIT.....HOTELS 4 NIGHTS,CAMPING 3*

Full camping and cooking equipment will be provided (apart from sleeping bags as they're such personal items) and your luggage will be carried on the 4x4.

Dates are to be confirmed, but the Moto-Morocco team will pick up your bike from one of several locations up and down the country , transport them to Marrakesh where you will fly into a week later to be reunited with the bikes.

Any spares (wheels, tyres, parts etc) can also be carried on the 4x4, which will also have a substantial tool kit on board for running repairs.

The 4x4 will also carry bike recovery equipment should a bike be unrideable, and local contacts will be used to try and get you back on the piste as soon as possible.

The trip is likely to be 7 days, though this can be varied....if enough people want a 10 day trip, so be it.....but it will end up back in Marrakesh for you to fly home, to be reunited again with your pogo a week later in the UK.

At the moment, the trip is very flexible..it will be the very first one so the price will be low to reflect that......the proper commercial launch of the company will be next year, so this would be a good time to get in :thumb

Depending on numbers and mix of camping/hotels etc, the price is likely to be around £1050 per bike....no pillions on this one.**EDIT.....MUCH CHEAPER NOW.....PLEASE SEE WEB SITE BY CLICKING MY BANNER SIGNATURE ;)**

As I said, this one is going to flexible.......we have off-road routes around the Todra Gorge, The Dades valley, up in the High atlas and of course there is the immense playground of the Sahara itself.........I'm more than happy to listen to you on what you want to see and where you want to ride, though there is a planned set of routes that should provide excitement, quality off roading and memories for years to come.

The Moto-Morocco web site is being worked on, but I'm aware that this is fairly short notice so I had to get this out now before it's ready :(

This will be a first come first served offer, as I won't be taking too many people on the trip so that the group will have as much free riding as possible without the inevitable delays that an overly large group brings.

Who's interested????? :D

Yes you can....have a read of the website ;)

This first trip in Nov will be pogos and larger bikes (with riders who have done some offroading before)

Looks like there's an HP2 and a TTR250 and maybe an 1100 so far......so as long as you have knobblies, have been off-road before and are up for a good week's riding, get in touch :thumb

EDIT Thanks though...I'll change the title of this thread slightly to refect that :thumb
