I tried these out for the first time last weekend doing just over 450 miles and no numb bum, First i did a 150 mile ride to the BMW National Committee meeting, then spent several hours sitting on a hard wooden chair (they are bloody uncomfortable after a couple of hours) with my Moto Skiveez on I had no discomfort, after the meeting i rode the 150 miles home, then on Sunday went to the MCN festival of motorcycling, walked around for about 4 hours and I did not find them uncomfortable or intrusive, in fact i hardly noticed i had them on, after riding home I had no numb bum at all.

Very pleased with the Moto Skiveez and would recommend them to anyone that suffers from numb bum, I had been wanting to try these for sometime, now i have my first shipment from the States, they are in stock now, make your bum happy

£50 for a pair of skids? Manufacturing cost probably half a bag of rice? I really need to get into the underwear business......

I've used cycling shorts for years which I find do help offset the dreaded numb bum and just found a link to these on face ache. Have to say I'm interested in buying them and good to read a personal review and recommendation. :beerjug:
 
Might save a lot of money trying to sort your saddle out. Good value in that context.

Definately true, I recently spent £290 on a bagster seat and although it was better than the standard GSA seat I was still squirming about in the seat trying to get comfortable after about 300 miles with 100 miles still to go, I would have been more comfortable in the Moto Skivees on the standard seat. Also i have several bikes so i will always have a comfy bum !

Looks good. I don't have a lot of 'natural' padding. Even with a Sargent seat I suffer after about 100 miles. Tried a pair of equestrian undershorts last summers tour to Austria. Better for sure but these look a much better construction. I know for the comfort factor I would buy a pair of these before my next trip.

Can you buy extra padding inserts for the codpiece? :D Not for me of course...just asking for a friend of mine like!
 
Cliff, can I ask about the construction of the pad, is it a cycling pad type padding? I've used cycling shorts for long haul trips with a chamois pad insert and it's been very effective, but the pad on the Moto Skiveez extends under the upper thigh area which would be even better.

I should have enough padding myself but I still suffer after about 150 miles, I am surprised you still suffer with a Sargent seat, my experience of them is pretty good though it does vary, I have had 3 Corbin seats on different bikes and on one of them i could do 400 miles with no numb bum, the other two were as bad as the original seats !

I they did a extra codpiece I have one myself !!!!

Yes, Shawn is the guy that got them made after years of cycling, the pads are different depending on the type of bike you ride, they do Sport bike, Cruiser and adventure bike versions with different pad shapes and sizes, I have tried cycling shorts in the past but never really got on with them especially when off the bike, they always felt like I had a poo in my pants when walking ! That and the fact that the padding was not wide enough for my arse ! These have the pads in the right area and they are not too thick, just enough to spread the load

I have loads of cycle shorts and none of them have the padding in the right place to make me want to wear them while motorcycling, may well have a look at these in conjunction with the £80 I just spent at Tony Archer in Huddersfield (highly recommended) getting my 1150GSA seat re-moulded and recovered.

Think about the shape and size of a bicycle seat and then a motorcycle seat! Plenty of support in the crutch from cycle shorts but very little on your arse or around your coxix.
 
They are much better than cycle shorts as the padding is in the area where you need it rather than being designed to work with a narrow cycle seat, i have tried both and can say with confidence that the Moto Skivees are much better than cycle shorts.

Which version were you using Cliff?

Seems the Adventure version is the obvious choice for GSer's but does it give enough support at the back of the bottom? Because I am tall with long arms I sit very square on to the seat. I wonder if the cruiser version is a better option? What would you recommend for an RT or Honda Pan rider?

I am using the Adventure version, having test rode the new Rt a couple of weeks ago i think that has a bit more lean forward riding position than my GS so I would think the adventure ones would work, the cruiser ones seem to have a bigger pad area though, I have not tried them yet but will next time i have a decent chance for a ride

Sizes are on the website, i would not like to say that any of the sizes are the same as your boxers as the different manufacturer do vary the sizes - this is the size guide -

small (waist: 26″ – 30″), medium (waist: 32″ – 34″), large (waist: 36″ – 38″), x-large (waist: 40″ – 42″), xx-large (waist: 44″+)

Whatever happened to adopting the off road standing position for miles to aleviate the numb bumb, just just apply to us ruffty tuffty types who bump up and down kerbs too.

Are going to the big GS meeting here in Norway the 10-13.09.

Will be a long drive to it, and lots of trips when we are there hopfully, so need a littel bit ekstra for those longest trips:-)


Flipfly, i'm already standing a lot, maby too much... I'm 193cm tall, so people do notiste this.... Hehehe..
