A friend of mine has just had one of these fail after 7 months in an 1150RT.

I have an Oddyssey I bought in Batyre 5 years ago, still going strong.

Wow, surprised to hear the comments, I've been fitting them for over 2 years and have yet to replace one! I find them great!

Mines lasted 18 months ,:(

How long were the batteries in and what conditions were the bikes stored in, how much use did the bikes get? Were the bikes alarmed etc etc. So many variables to just pin it on a bad battery ( not saying that batteries dont fail either ). What you both say is sweeping and you need to back it up as to why the battery actually failed.

A lot of guys use these Motobatt on the Ducati's, inlcuding me, they're fantastic. Hold a charge longer than say a Yuasa, and have the balls to crank up a big duke after 2 weeks without any problem and no charge. Id call that impressive. ( Look at the compression figure on a 1098 for ex, its big ! ).

I only recently discovered Motobatt and thats what i will be using from here on in.

The fact that mine failed in the spring summer when I was using the bike surprised me, maybe I was just unlucky but fail it did .Fitted a Odyssey no problems .

1982 Suzuki gsx1100. high compression big bore kit etc the standard and almost new Yuasa fitted struggled to start the bike as did the Odyssey from my 1150, fitted a Motobatt over 2 years ago and it lights up first time every time , less than half the price of an Odyssey when I bought it

I initially bought the mottobatt for my r100gs as it was almost the size of the battery tray ,it was a big lump of a battery.Dissapointed in service life .I have a gs 1150 stored in the same place as the Airhead and I have no problems with this.Did have a clock ticking away on the old airhead but the bike was used through the winter without a hitch Spring arrived and the battery died rapidly.Sorry I wont buy another .

Lads thanks for the comments and replies.

After 2yrs my Yuasa gave up. Theyre a rubbish battery imo for certain engine types.

Be searching for a motobatt tomorrow, batt completely fooked, even with a booster, no joy today.

FYI

I ended getting a Unibatt from Europower in Finglas / Glasnevin - guy knew his batteries and price was v v keen. Look them up.

The Unibatt has got a few more amps and is slightly lighter in weight than the motobatt.
